Description: Amada is Chef Garces’ iconic first restaurant. Since opening in 2005, this gorgeous rustic-chic restaurant and bar has embraced the rich traditions of Spanish cuisine. Amada’s capacious dining room features a six-seat chef’s counter overlooking the open kitchen, a comfortable second dining room and lounge area, an intimate private event space and a spacious bar area reminiscent of a typical Spanish bodega, complete with hanging jamons. Since opening Amada in Philadelphia in 2005, Chef Jose Garces has emerged as an enormous talent and one of the nation’s most gifted chefs and restaurateurs. Today, he is the owner and operator of more than a dozen restaurants across the country, plus a thriving event planning division and 40-acre Luna Farm.

Amada was Chef Garces's first solo restaurant effort after leaving the Starr restaurants....It was, and continues to be a great success...excellent food in really attractive surroundings, in the heart
of the historic area of Philadelphia!

The Restaurant looks great and the service was friendly and helpful. Although we had some tapas and the salads, which were very good, I will always remember and long for that Almond Soup. I would certainly go back.

Truly enjoyed our visit to the Amada, there is a good selection of tapas dishes and the food is of a high standard! Although the restaurant is quite expensive, it is worth it!

Nice environment, and food is gradually brought out, which is good as the food is fresh and hot!

We were able to snag one of Amada's street-side table during a busy evening, and it turned out to be a great spot for dinner & for watching the weekend crowd head out for the night.

I'd agree with an earlier review that noted the restaurant (inside & out) is noisy and probably not the best spot for an intimate, romantic dinner -- but that certainly isn't what the restaurant was designed for in the first place. It has the same tapas-centric atmosphere you'd find in Spain -- lots of interesting food to sample, a solid drink menu, and a social buzz. Plus the service was great. We'll be back.

I had a reservation for 7:30 PM for dinner at Amada, and when I showed up the place was pretty busy. They told us it would only be a few minutes, but we saw groups come in after us without reservations and get seated. By the time, we got seated almost 30 minutes passed by and no apologies were made for the long wait (even though we had reservations). Finally when we sat down, the waitress was nonexistent. She stopped by our table for a total of 3 times. We ended up getting about 6 small dishes and we spent 3 hours waiting for all of it. I've never seen a tapas place take longer than an hour for all dishes to come out. Will never go back to this place. I was so disappointed as it got great reviews.
