Description: Amada is Chef Garces’ iconic first restaurant. Since opening in 2005, this gorgeous rustic-chic restaurant and bar has embraced the rich traditions of Spanish cuisine. Amada’s capacious dining room features a six-seat chef’s counter overlooking the open kitchen, a comfortable second dining room and lounge area, an intimate private event space and a spacious bar area reminiscent of a typical Spanish bodega, complete with hanging jamons. Since opening Amada in Philadelphia in 2005, Chef Jose Garces has emerged as an enormous talent and one of the nation’s most gifted chefs and restaurateurs. Today, he is the owner and operator of more than a dozen restaurants across the country, plus a thriving event planning division and 40-acre Luna Farm.

We stumbled on to this restaurant our first night in Philly. First thing asked, do you have reservations? We didn't, but after a short wait we were seated. This is a local gem and they were very busy for a Monday evening. (Bridal shower party across the restaurant from our table). Lots of selections and we tried a wide range of selections with the help of our server, Alexia. Recommend the sangria, white ... very light and the pears added a different twist. Hubby had the red sangria and based on my taste, very nice as well.

We went for my daughters 21st, and as usual they didn't disappoint. The trio of cheeses were excellent, especially the Manchego. The short rib flatbread was perfect. All the grill items were superb, especially the lamb chops. The atmosphere was buzzing. All round a great night.

BWonderful experience. jon our waiter left nothing to chance. Fabulous meal. Front room noisy and light, back room dim and a bit more romantic. but wherever you sit your tastebuds will be overwhelmed. You must have the Froe -gras meatballs! We kidded and said were going to have them for desert and they brought us a few extra :-)
Olive oil ice cream a must also, dried cherries, chocolate, and coffee bits. Tremendous evening. We will be back. In fact we went back for desert and a night cap the next evening and they were able to seat us in the bar without reservation.

Went out on date night to Amada. The atmosphere is more on the loud side, place was packed. If you are looking for quiet and romantic this is not the spot. We had a great time. Food was amazing. We liked the lamb meat balls. Short rib flatbread was awesome! The chicken paella was worth the wait, big dish so we took some home. The food had good flavor and was different from the usual. The sangria was one of the best we have tasted. Our server was just ok, not bad but we wish a little more attentive. I am looking to go back. It is a pricey place, but to me worth it. Parking is hard to find on the street.

The parking situation is the only con I had, the street parking is slim pickens but try it anyway, you may get lucky. But it will cost you 21 bucks to valet. The meal I had was delicious. I opted for the tasting with the modern twists, you are just not going to be able to choose a particular tapa that will grab your attention because there are several that can do that. All the plancha items are great except for the lamb, it was a bit undersalted but I loved all the meat and cheese taste, the simple dessert at the end of the meal makes the entire experience worth it.
