“Great bargain, great location”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Loved this place! In a location that made walking to all the major tour sites, it also was just one block from public transportation to reach other parts of the city. The historic building makes a beautiful hotel. Our room had high ceilings, was very large, and well decorated. Breakfast was good, daily cookies were delicious, and the wine and cheese reception on Wednesday night was very nice. It is extremely close to wonderful restaurants. To top it all off, the price is one of the very best anywhere in the area.

Spent Sunday and Monday nights here. The area is pleasant and the hotel was central to most attractions. Traffic was bad and parking is not free. This would not be a first choice for a return trip but could be considered at last minute

The Best Western Independence Park is in a convenient, safe location. Walking is easy to the historic sites and good restaurants are close by. We spent 3 days in four art museums and rode buses to them. The bus stops were near-by and the buses ran frequently. The hotel's rooms are comfortable, the breakfast good and all the staff was very helpful. It is a very good place to stay.

My family and I stayed here for two nights and the location is fantastic. The building is historical and the room may be small but has all the necessities such as fridge and microwave. The staffs are very kind, helpful and polite. Breakfast is good and although the nightlife is wild outside, the hotel is safe as they are locked until morning! You can't hear a peep with whatever is going on outside. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone! Loved it!

At this very moment I am laying wide awake due to the pounding of jackhammers in the street along with related construction noise. It is 11:45 pm on a Sunday night and the manager had assured me in an email that "it is always quiet on Sunday night " since I had requested a "quiet room. "
I guess that the manager was not aware of how uncomfortable the stay would be, but at least I can advise the readers of TripAdvisor to check with the hotel concerning construction prior to booking.

Dear Larry 112,

We understand and while your stay was was a bit uncomfortable, rest assured that we had no prior knowledge of this work until the crew showed up at 10PM Sunday evening.

But for those guests visiting us, we understand the project end is in clear sight, plus we have quiet rooms on the north end of the hotel. The rooms on Chestnut Street have been placed Out of Order. So far, so good!

When speaking with the supervisor, city and building owner, I was informed that the construction should be done...completed and finished on Thursday, 8/28. We are hopeful he is correct.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we always explain to guests projects like this one, but in this case we had no prior knowledge.

Again, have quiet rooms in northern end of the hotel, and the end of the project is near.

the hotel it's a real piece of the Philadelphia history. the building is dated nearly 1850.
the hall is nice and warm : you might leverage on free fruits , fresh lemon water and coffe'/tea in the afternoon some cookies are always offered.
Rooms are big enough for a family of 4 but the sofa' bed is unfortunately not so confortable
Breakfast could be improved but in line for BW standard (not for BW Plus)
Last but not least Employess always available to answer and support: well done !!!

A friend recommended this place, although it had been ten years since she'd stayed there. The place was still as she described it though. All the staff were friendly, smiled, and seemed to enjoy their jobs. We needed information on how to get to the art museum by bus and they had the bus pamphlet right there. Breakfast was included in the price and was decent enough. They offered tea in the afternoons but we were always out so I can't say how that was. But they had a set up for coffee and ice cold lemon water in the lobby area. The water was refreshing after spending hours walking around outside in the humidity. The only problem was with unloading our luggage from the car and parking. Because the hotel is small and in an historic area, they don't have anyone to help unload your car. There is only one spot to park in front so if several people are checking in or out at the same time, you have to just drive around and around until they leave. You have to park in a garage which isn't far but it's not next door either. I had thought the parking charge could be added to the bill, but that didn't happen and we had some trouble paying with cash when we were leaving. But overall, the parking was a minor inconvenience, certainly not enough to keep us from returning.
