“The cheesesteak was okay”
Reviewed February 25, 2014 via mobile

I have visited Philadelphia many times.

I have had cheesesteaks at Ginos, and Pat's.

This time we visited Tony Luke's, because it was the middle of the winter, and that Ginos and Pat's, there is no place to sit except outside in the cold.

If you go in the warmer months, I would recommend Pat's over this place hands-down.

“Best Philly Cheesesteak Yet”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

I'm not from Philly, but every time I am here I have to get at least one wiz wit cheesesteak from one of the famous steak places in town. Today I tried Tony Luke's and it was the best I have had so far. I have tried Pat's, Geno's, Campo's and Tony Luke's over the past few years. As other reviewers have said, the bread at Tony Luke's is great. The steak was very tender, there was plenty of cheese and lots of chopped onions. There was a ton of meat on it as well. It is just shy of $9, but it is worth every penny. You could actually just get one and split it between two people and each of you would be pleasantly full. I ate one by myself and was a little too full. I enjoyed every bite though!

Tony Luke's is in a strange location though. It is almost underneath I-95 between a run down industrial area and a gas station. There is very little parking as there are signs in the gas station stating that Tony Luke's customers will get towed. There is a small lot that belongs to Tony Luke's, but it looks like it will fit about 2 cars. It is definitely worth the journey though.

If you are driving through Philly and want to jump off 95 and get a quick steak, Tony Luke's is the place to go!

“Way too much spice!”
Reviewed January 27, 2014 via mobile

I was looking forward to a cheesesteak and roast pork before the Sixers game, stopped at Tony Luke's. Quite a line and cold to be outside (plastic barrier keeps the wind out but still freezing at night). The roast pork and provolone was full of lean pork, looked great but after the first bite the pepper overdose overwhelmed the meat flavor. The bread was excellent, but too much cheese. Need to dial the spices way back. Cheesesteak with provolone also very lean, bread fresh and crusty. Fries were tasty. Overall would have been a solid meal except for the heavy hand on the pepper mill.

“Good Pork Sandwich”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

I'm giving this an average because although the roast pork with broccoli rabe was very good, the cheesesteak is on average, if that.
