This small (3 rows of tables in a small storefront space) restaurant on 9th St. in the area of the former Italian Market is part of the area's growing Mexican scene.
An encouraging sign was that the staff was Mexican and the few patrons there on a week day mid-afternoon were Mexican as well.
We sampled the Mole Enchiladas and were not disappointed. Delicious mole sauce was one of the best I've had in the area. The guacamole we had as a starter was rich and creamy with a touch of heat and onion. The carnitas tacos were stuffed with tender, flavorful pork cubes....delicious!
This is a BYOB and the waitress easily accomodated our margaritas.
The menu expands considerably on the weekends when I understand it can be packed. However, we've marked this little hideaway gem for a repeat visit to enjoy a quiet, unhurried, sampling of some really authentic and wonderful Mexican food.
