The b&b is so nice, so sweet, so quiet, so cozy... that you'll fell in love with it! Each room is completely different one each other, and every room has a particular furniture.
Staff is kind and you really feel pampered! You can always find, during the whole day, something home-made to eat in the corridors (sweets or fruits). Our accommodation was super: it had an entrance where you could have your in-room breakfast, a mini-fridge, clean bathroom, spacious room. The area is pretty good and you can walk just 5 minutes to arrive to the historical area of Philadelphia!
We highly recommend Philadelphia Bella Vista B&B!!!

For a long weekend (three nights) in Philly on a tight budget and last minute booking (a month in advance) Bella Vista Bed & Breakfast fit the bill.

Outback room for $115 a night + tax
The room was in the back and had a it's own entry way after you walk through the main house and out the side door. There's a lovely garden area but it went unused due to the cold weather. It was clean with a lot of charm and a kitchenette that included a brita water filter, min fridge with complementary juice, bottled water and condiments and an adorable dinette set and china cabinet.

What was great is that they have yearly family passes that they lend out free of charge that gives you free entrance to the Museum of Art (Adults:$16/Seniors:$14/Students:$12) and Franklin Institute (Adults:$15.50/Seniors:$14.50 /Child:$12.00).

The breakfast was just an assortment of croissants, muffins, bread and fruit in the lobby but at that price and with Sabrina's Cafe a 5 min walk away a larger breakfast was unnecessary. The room was stocked with guide books, maps and a binder of helpful information put together by the innkeepers.

The location was good, esp if you like food as it's a short walk to the Italian market and some of Philly's best pastry and sandwich shops (see my other reviews!). If you're up to it the walk to center city/Historic District isn't short but lovely esp if you walk through Society Hill.

Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Philly!

Our group consisted of 3 families (11 in the whole group, with kids ages 9 to 13) traveling from Hawaii. Philadelphia was the last leg of our vacation after visiting Cooperstown, NY where our daughters competed in a softball tournament, and visiting NYC.

Being from Hawaii, it was wonderful to find the Aloha spirit at the Philadelphia Bella Vista B&B. The owners, Dan and Barbara opened their home to us and their service was incredible! Each room had its own charm and character, and they were very clean and supplied with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Our daughter enjoyed the loft bed in the "La Grande" suite which is on the first floor of the home. She also enjoyed helping Dan feed their Koi fish in the little pond in the back yard. The refrigerator is nicely stocked and breakfast was convenient. Dan & Barbara prepared a binder full of information and recommendations for restaurants, places to visit, modes of transportation, etc. that were very helpful in planning our visit.

The location of the home is within walking distance of South Street where we ate at Brauhaus Schmitz, a German restaurant/beer hall, and Jim's Steaks for Philly cheesesteaks.

We walked to most of the destinations we visited (South Street, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, The Mint, etc.) and were able to hop on the Philly Pflash trolley to get around the city. The Philly Pflash was the most economical and convenient mode of transporation.

Overall, we enjoyed staying in the beautiful, historical home, and felt safe in the neighborhood. In fact, we walked to and from the home to South Street in the late hours of the evening after visiting Brauhau Schmitz. Most of all, Dan and Barbara's genuine desire to ensure their guests enjoy their home and the city made our trip to Philadelphia most memorable.

My family loves this B &B. The decor is kitchy, unique, and historic. We were able to have privacy, but there was plenty of room to visit with one another and enjoy the shared space. The B & B's website was accurate in its description and we would definitely return..
