In town for a family wedding, most all of the family stayed here. Our room was on the lower level and fairly comfortable, while others had limited cooling. It was hot - in the 90's. Breakfast consisted of a basket set out the evening before. It included slices of things in baggies and fruit. If you were late getting to the group basket, the pickings were slim. there was cereal, water, juice and coffee in the room. Yogurt could be requested but the requests were never honored.

The location was convenient for walking. Street parking was difficult, but we parked in a garage about 3 blocks away.

Room was cleaned, but sometimes towels or cups were not returned to the room.
Improvement is much needed.

Bella Vista B&B is located a 10 - 15 mintute walk from the main tourist area of Philly and is a 5 minute walk from a Little Italy suburb, some of the south side streets (for great local food) and a 5 minute walk from 2 supermarkets a Wholefoods and a local one.
If you like walking you can get up to the Museum area and Love statue easily too.
The accommodation is fine - the decor is weird and the floorboards creak but the rooms are comfortable, there are provisions for you to make your own breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, fruit, popcorn, tea, coffee, bottled water and a fridge for you to buy and store your own food) and the bathroom has great water pressure and temperature.
There is a useful guide book in the room to help you navigate the city.

From the airport we got a taxi which is a set fee of about $30 so if you are in a group this is great value, otherwise go with the Liberty Shuttle which is good value and will drop you at the door.

If you like comfort but not luxury, want to be in the centre of everything but with a neighbourhood feel, and if you have a spirit of independence when you travel, this is a great accommodation choice.

The photos made this B&B look rather elegant but it is as far from it as Ben Franklin is to being a British loyalist. My opinion: skip this place immediately and find a bed and breakfast that's really a B&B. This isn't. I have debated whether to post my photos of the peeling paint in our room, the duct taped electrical wires across the doorway, the extension cords running up the stairway. Decided not to, thinking a description was enough. The place seems to be a hodgepodge of rooms, the center of which is a nondescript quasi living room with a mess of a kitchen off it. The only person minding the place was the owners very sweet nephew, home from college and checking people in and out as his summer job. When we went to him with questions about Philly, he didn't know because he didn't live in the city! There wasn't anyone else around to help us. To be fair, our room had comfortable beds and an adequate kitchenette where we could make coffee, toast english muffins (available in baggies downstairs) or have a choice of cereals for breakfast. But if you want a home cooked, muffins-out-of-the-oven bed and breakfast where a welcoming proprietor is on hand, this is not it. This is not "it" on too many levels. Go elsewhere.

Room Tip: Find a good room elsewhere.

First I loved this hotel, I've never been in any hotel like this, but please don't let any money in the room. Unexplainable things are going on there. All the money I had in my purse disappeared from a locked room but the owner assured me that it is not possible that any of her employees was in the room!
