We were staying at the Four Seasons over Easter weekend and wanted breakfast before our flight .We weren't interested in paying a fortune for the hotel breakfast; went wondering and found this place. While it is a no-nonsense diner, the food was surprisingly good. My husband is very picky about his eggs, seldom likes them when eating out and he gave them two thumbs up. He also liked his hash browns. Don't go expecting ambiance, but for a good quick bite, the place is great.

Rather than spend a rather hefty sum for some late evening eats at the Elephant and Castle, we happened upon Midtown III while walking back to the hotel. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, and the cocktail lounge next door doesn't enhance the appeal of the place either.

Still, go on in and help yourself to good, basic food at a fair price. The piece of grilled chicken I got on my sandwich was approximately 8-9 inches long, and the service was prompt and friendly. If you're also in the mood for one more beer, they have a range of selections at prices a dollar or two lower than most bars.

We were only there for 2 nights, so we only ate here once. Had we known about this earlier in the trip, we probably would have snagged breakfast here everyday as well. Don't let the outside fool you - Midtown III is a great place to score good food at a good price in Center City.

When it comes to breakfast, we're creatures of habit. We happened on Midtown III on a previous visit, and returned during our 3-day stay in September 2012. This is a 24-hour, no frills diner/restaurant located in the middle of downtown Philadelphia (Rittenhouse district).

The breakfast menu is comfortably predictable. We've had eggs, cereal, bacon (turkey and pork), cereal, pancakes, waffles. The waffles are highly recommended. We liked the coffee so much we asked for the brand (lavas). (Alas, it doesn't taste the same at home - must be the water.)

This is the kind of place where the waitresses call you 'honey' or 'baby' (it's been a lot of years since anyone's called me 'baby') and address the locals by name. When we mentioned we were from DC, the waitress said, "You seem like locals." That's because they make you feel at home.

If you want a fancy brunch with imported cheese in your omelette, fresh fruit, and a cafe latte, go elsewhere and spend a lot more money and time. Otherwise this place is great. We're light eaters and the good coffee, quick and friendly service, and very low prices suit us fine.
