My family and I stayed at the AKA for over 10 months as our house was being repaired. Everything about the AKA is excellent. The staff is extremely helpful and accomodating. The rooms are spacious and modern. The hotel is perfectly located in a great part of Center City. We highly recommend for a short or long term stay.

Rooms are nice and large. Very thin walls on a busy street. Lobby could be kept cleaner and there are signs of wear in the carpets. However the rooms are very nIce. Great area of Philly as well.

A great place to stay -does not look much when entering -and the disco lighting in the lift is different - but what a surprise inside. Really spacious rooms, excellently equipped, a free guest laundry, and John and team at the front desk are just superb in assisting. Close to all the sights and shopping in Philly -and an easy walk to great coffee and the arts precinct. Nothing was too much of a bother -housekeeping one of the best I have experienced.

My wife and I stayed at the AKA RS for three days in July 2011. We were visiting Philly for the first time for the U2 360 concert and wanted something comfortable, well located, and close to the stadium. I found it through Trip Advisor and will say that we made the right choice.

Now because this is a long-stay hotel, it doesn't have *all* of the amenities one might expect. For example, we had to get our own toothpaste. But that's no issue because the hotel is at the perfect location with dozens of excellent restaurants, great shopping, and major sights all close by.

And these minor differences are more than made up by the excellent and friendly service and wonderful amenities in the "room" which is basically an apartment. In fact, it's so nice that we wanted to move in!

Another big plus is the location. It's fantastic. Rittenhouse Square is akin to Dupont Circle in DC, lots of restaurants, shopping, foot traffic, bars, people, and of course the park, which is very nice to spend a lazy afternoon in. Also close to Broad Street, where much of Philly's art and fashion seems to converge and to the City Hall, which is a great place to start sight-seeing in the city if that's what you're in town for. Public transport is also very close and convenient.

One nice addition they made the week we were there was a new restaurant which is open through the day. We had a simple breakfast and will say that service and food were certainly fine. We didn't try anything fancy so we can't comment much on that (and hence the 4/5 review). Yet again, the location and choice of al fresco dining makes it worth a try at the very least.

We got a great price: $190/day for 2 people in a large 'room' (essentially one bedroom apartment). This was an online reservation special. And yes, we will stay there again if we need to be in Philly.

Room Tip: Book online and search for specials.

We stayed at the aka Korman for one month as our temporary housing before moving into our new home. We had a 1 bedroom suite with a small office for us and it was lovely. The hotel is very clean, the staff professional and accommodating, and we enjoyed our time there.
Rittenhouse square is a lively place on the weekend and occasionally we could hear the street noise in our 10th floor room on a late Thursday/Friday night. There is not much the Korman can do about that and it only affects a light sleeper.
I highly recommend this hotel for a longer term stay.

All the reviews I had read before deciding for AKA were more than positive, and now I totally agree - AKA has one the best customer services I had had in a hotel in my life (if not the best ever).
From reservations to check in, to city recommendations and dinner reservations, the staff was absolutely amazing, accommodating and helpful at all times. John, Joe, Julia, you really deserve an award, thanks for everything, you guys rock!
The room was spacious enough, with a equipped kitchen, very convenient, very comfy bed and excellent shower. Location is also very good, walking distance from the subway and very close to shops and good dining options. The restaurant at the hotel is also a gem - after a long trip to get into the city, dinner at the restaurant was convenient and yet amazing.
but, after all, the service is what will bring us back to AKA in Philly and wherever the hotel is - top notch, award deserving.

We chose AKA Rittenhouse on the positive reviews here, and were delighted that they were all true. My wife and I got the rare chance to come to Philly without the kids to see U2 at Lincoln Field (a terrific show, BTW), and we wanted to find a hotel downtown in a scenic area, near eclectic restaurants. AKA really fit the bill.
It was a large, clean, elegant place to rest and relax after the show. We loved that it had a lobby which could be confused with a boutique. It was hard to believe that this was a hotel.
I have to say the parking situation is a bit weird, but staff were there immediately to help guide us. We expected that, though, given the location. The desk staff were on top of everything, and even called a restaurant for us to make sure that they would still be seating after the show. They were terrific. When we came back, the night clerk was a bit disinterested, giving us the easy (and wrong) answer we had about where to find something, but he was the exception.
All in all, it was a great stay, and I hope we get the chance to do it again.
