The Trade Winds was in a great location to see much of the greater Philadelphia sights. We were able to walk to all the major attractions, as well as being just a block from South Street. Easy to get to the bus route for the museums that were a little further away. The second floor room was clean and comfortable. Decor is eclectic, but interesting! Breakfast was stocked in a fridge in the room, so we were able to set our own pace in the morning. Traffic noise was a bit loud at times...but overall not bad.

I don´t want to describe the B&B again, because some visitors did it before in their reports. We loved the mixed style of design, the comfortable beds and the beautiful paintings on the walls (especially those with Chinese style inour room). The owner, Marjorie is a very nice friendly person, she let us feel like at home. We really enjoyed our stay in her B&B. Although our flight arrived very late in the evening, everything was perfect arranged and we enjoyed every minute of our stay in Philly. My son and me came from Austria for one week, and it coudn´t have been better, Marjorie provided us with many insider tips which were very valuable and I would recommend the stay in Trade Winds to everyone who is coming without car to Philly. You just don´t need it. Marjorie even ordered Big Bus to pick us up at our place for our sightseeing tour. Philly´s people were very friendly to us tourists and Marjorie is one of the nicest people I have ever met.

We went to trade winds BeB last August, for only one night, but we loved this. I reserved a double room 3 months ago by mail, contacting directly Marjorie, the owner. She is very friendly and helpful and she answered to my e-mail very quickly. We stayed in the main double room, on the first floor. it has private bathroom.
The room was very big, beautifully furnished, with a working fireplace, a queen size canopy bed, a table, 2 chairs, an armchair, tv. The bathroom had a separate bathtub and shower. The room is very elegantly appointed, with many paintings and antique furniture. There was a small refrigerator stocked with the breakfast supplies: bottled water for us,milk, juice, yogurt, cereals, coffee maker with tea and coffee.
Marjorie is very nice: when we arrived, she gave us a Philly map and told us the best place to eat and to go! The house is near south street. the location is very nice: jus a walk from the historical sites and south street , great for dinner (jim's steak).
I suggest this to everyone!!!

My husband and I had one of the two rooms on the top floor (the third) and shared the bath located between the other top floor room and ours. The room was adequate size and nicely decorated. We called it the Gold Room as the chairs, the settee, the comforter, the picture frames and the walls all had gold in the fabric or paint. The Gold Room had a small seating area with two small chairs, small table and beautiful wall mural as the breakfast nook and a small sofa in addition to the comfortable bed, a large bedside table, two dressers and a closet. There was a very small refrigerator stocked with the breakfast supplies and bottled water and a coffee maker with tea and coffee. Breakfast was milk, juice, cereal, yogurt, and sometimes a granola bar. The front hall was very cluttered and dusty, but we didn't stay in the front hall!
The location on 10th and Lombard was fabulous. The neigborhood is nice rowhouses. The subway stop at Lombard and Broad (really 14th) is only four blocks away. Lombard is one block north of South Street. South Street is a lively scene with many shops, restaurants and great people watching. In addition, there are grocery stores on two of the four corners of 10th and South. We didn't rent a car. We were especially pleased with the short walk to the Historical sites and City Center. We used the subway and bus system for a trip to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge and Temple University. Friends picked us up and took us to the airport, but a taxi or a combination of the subway and R1 railroad would be a good alternative.
I found email communication with the owner to be timely and reliable.

Our family of 4 with 2 children stayed here. We took over the top floor, which was 2 bedrooms with a connecting bathroom--perfect for us! A continental breakfast was preset with juices and milk in the fridge. The rooms were very elegantly decorated, and very comfortable (adequately clean, but the rest of the house seemed a little cluttered and dusty.) The neighborhood seemed very safe, and the location couldn't be beat! We walked to all the historical sites, and never used our car (which was parked in a deck about a block away.) This is a fabulous deal for downtown Philadelphia, and I am so glad that we didn't stay in the hotel which we had originally booked (Comfort Inn), which was much further from the historic sites and overlooked I-685. We will stay here again!
