The park along Kelly Drive is beautiful and with the regatta it was extra inviting. The event was well planned and had great traffic control. The park has a grandstand made of field stone and wood, very inviting. The shores along the river are nicely maintained and inviting to just sit down and wtch these great colleges race against each other.

The people manning the event were polite and efficient, kept things in check and people moving along. The weather happened to be beautiful the first day and a little wet and over cast the next day, but the park was still very beautiful.

People on bikes seem to be the biggest hazzard, as they ride in all directions, with and against traffic and will ride too close to pedestrians and cars.

Driving along the drive when the Cherry Trees are in bloom adds to the magic of the river sites including the Waterworks and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Runners, bikers, skaters and more throng along the river to take in the beauty while they enjoy a wonderful place to get some exercise. Coming now the Azalea Gardens will add to the sites not to be missed. A favorit place to amble or drive we love these familiar sites of the city.

Why go to Washington DC when we have our own Cherry Trees.
Spring time on the drive is beautiful. Worth a trip out to the falls bridge and then back on West River Drive. Take a camera the photo ops are great.

If you are headed into Center City and want to avoid the high traffic roads of I95 and the Schuykill Expressway, this is the way to go! There are several places to pull over and park to enjoy the beauty of the river, watch runners and crew teams or join take a stroll. Or ride you bike from Manyunk to the Art Museum, going right by the Water Works, and the famous Boathouse Row. However, if you want to see the houses lit up at night, tour the Art Museum area, take in the sites and then take the West River Drive back to view them the boathouses from across the river in all their splendor. Breathtaking!
