“A fantastic visit thanks to our park service and rangers”

We were new to the historic district in Philly and knew only what was available on the "net". A must first stop is the outstanding visitors center where you receive a super introduction to the district by the park rangers. These folks made our visit even better than we could have asked for. All questions answered promptly and with a smile. The locations we visited were clean, and easy for us senior citizens to get around. My only advise to other senior citizens, if you hope to visit the Liberty Bell, go on line to find a time when there are no school trips planned, otherwise it is a long wait without benches to ease you "aching back" :-) The grave site of Ben Franklin is a must, don't forget to toss a coin on the grave for good luck and a tribute to Ben. His museum is absolutely terrific...one of the best. As you can tell, Philly and the park service deserve high marks for their work for making our visit great.

“Philadelphia-Places I have visted”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

Having been born and raised in Philadelphia there are very few of these sites I have not visited several times growing up. Most of these sites are within a few blocks of one another (5th Street and Chestnut Street). So start with Independence Hall, then try the Independence Square Museum, Congress Hall, Old City Hall, the West Wing of Independence Hall, the Benjamin Franklin Museum, the US Mint and National Constitution Center. Philadelphia is a great walking city so bring comfortable shoes and wander through Downtown and Historic Philadelphia. You may also want to visit the Friends Meeting House on Arch Street at 4th, the Gloria Dei (Old Swedes) Church near the Delaware Riverfront or Edgar Allan Poe Museum near 7th and Spring Garden. I believe all of these sites have webpages with hours of operation and entrance fees.
