I attended a business lunch at La Scala's and this was my first time.

The restaurant is warm and inviting and the location is on Chestnut Street in an area that is poised for greatness, but isn't there yet.

The service was a bit slow and inconsistant, but the food was worth the wait.

I had the chopped salad for an appetizer which was large and delicious. For my entee I had the tagliatelli with meat sauce which was rich and delicious.

Prices are just right for the quality and quantity of the portions and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice Italian meal at reasonable prices.

Had a great lunch this past Saturday at La Scala's in Philadelphia. Started off with the Broccoli Rabe with sausage ($10). The Broccoli Rabe was cooked just right and there was a lot of sausage in the dish. I would definitely order this again. We both ordered pasta dishes. I had the Fettuccini Roma ($16) and it had shrimp with a nice alfredo sauce that wasn't swimming in the sauce. My wife had the Pappardelle Pasta ($13). This is the wide noodle pasta and it was in a butter sauce with mushrooms. She really LOVED it. At this time of the year they had some specialty drink cocktails. We both enjoyed the Salted Carmel Martini. It contained Salted Carmel Vodka, Apple Pucker, Buttershots and cranberry juice. It really had a fall feeling to the drink. A little sweet but very pleasant.

This restaurant in the daytime is casual. The chairs are comfortable and the service friendly. One complaint would be that the bar took awhile for them to make the martinis and the place wasn't really busy. Yes, we would definitely go back for the Broccoli Rabe, the martinis and the pastas. Great location just a block away from jeweler's row.
