“great place”
Reviewed January 10, 2012

This is much more than a tourist trap, I'm from philly and always enjoy going down and getting a burger and margarita in this place. Its nothing pretty but the food is good and the drinks are strong

“Best marini you will find”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

If you are looking for a classy joint, this ain't the place for you. With that said, the music is great (usually the staff plays their ipods), the food is wonderful and the martinis are to die for. The staff is a lot of fun and the service is quick. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot for your money. They have a few tvs so you can catch a game or two or three-depending on how long you hang out.

They have plenty of options on their menu from burgers to crab cakes, from appetizers to soup. There are a few vegitarian options as well. Everyone I know loves the burgers. The toppings list is endless. If you can't find a burger you don't like, then I don't know what to tell you. Oh and the fries aren't too shabby!

You can get a shot and a beer or you can get a martini. The martini is what always brings us back. My favorite is the Pink Lemonade w/ sugar on the rim. Each martini is served with your own shaker, which is good for sharing different types.

The atmosphere is different from a traditional dive bar, but it has a vibe about it. Everytime I have been to Copa, I have made new friends. You kind of can't help it. We love everything about this place, including their extremely large bouncer. It is great to go in the summer when you can sit outside and watch the people on South Street, but even in the winter, it is a lot of fun inside. Halloween is a great night to be at Copa. Hope you enjoy and have a marini for me.

“Dingy restaurant/neighborhood but excellent burgers at a good price”
Reviewed August 7, 2009

Copabanana is located in the middle of the 4-5 block section of South Street my girlfriend likes to call "The Catwalk". At night, all of Philly's shady characters gather here to drink, check out girls, and show off their Hondas. There is always a strong police presence, so it is safe to stroll around here at night. The restaurant is a prime location for people-watching if you can get a table outside.

The inside of the restaurant features two bars and a dark dining room (and not "romantic" dark). The menu has the usual bar fare, but go for the burgers. There are about a dozen of them on the menu and at $6-8, they are cheap and delicious. For another $3 you can add the Spanish fries, which are cooked with onions and jalapenos. I've had the Caribbean burger, which is topped with jerk sauce and mangoes, and the Copa burger topped with Monterrey Jack and green chili. Both are really tasty.

I would not recommend Copabanana for families (as little kids may be scarred for life by the riff-raff outside) or romantic dates, but it is a great place for happy hour or nights when you want to grab an inexpensive and delicious bite.
