We ordered a single salad and Corn beef Reuben's that easily filled two adults. Delicious. Other offerings appeared equally good. The deli has Dr. Brown's Cel ray soda

Recently ate at their Center City location, decorated nicely to match the original.

FIRST: Like the original, everything on the menu costs twice as much as it should. This is justified (or intended to be justified) by the fact that everything on the menu is twice as large as it should be. Unless you are sharing with someone, or saving half for your dinner, it's either a ripoff or a tremendous waste of food. SHARE EVERYTHING! Even then, I think a sandwich that is taller than it is wide is just stupid, and wasteful.

NEXT: What about the food? It's good deli, especially when it comes to meat and cheese. Salads and soups were just OK. Stick to salami, corned beef and pastrami, and share.

FINALLY: For a place this crowded, and this expensive, and this new, it is shameful to have only one unisex restroom.

The price for a corned beef special at 17.00 was atrocious considering the amount of meat that they give you !

Katz in NY has always been my benchmark with deli's. I've finally found its equal. Sure it's still a youngster compared to Katz (1923 vs 1888), but you can't go wrong here if you want authentic Jewish deli. Well done!

I used to live in this neighborhood. So after more than 20 years, I returned to the 4th Street Deli. It is even better than I remembered it. High quality food. Huge portions (one portion easily serves two). And friendly service. There are lots of good restaurant options in Philly, but this is an institution not to be missed.
