Description: Unlike traditional steakhouses, Marmont balances a casual dining experience with exceptional quality. Choose from seven generous cuts, even customize your cut. All steaks are hand carved in house. Discover our 22oz Rib eye, and savor our Filet Oscar, a center cut filet topped with jumbo lump crab, fresh asparagus and hollandaise. Executive Chef Jorge Pacheco has crafted a menu full of unique salads, exciting daily specials, and homemade desserts. We also import the best seafood. Try our legendary crab bisque or the ‘catch of the day.’ Our reasonably priced international wine list will perfectly complement your experience. When the weather is nice, dine or relax outside with local award winning craft beer or one of 30 martinis, right in the heart of old city.

We decided to check out this steakhouse in Old City for restaurant week and were surprised how great the food were. The restaurant itself is small and the bar is in the back with two TV screens. They offered a 4-course dinner for restaurant week and we loved each course. The soup was delicious, e.g. the crab bisque actually had chunks of real crab meat in them. The steak was cooked medium rare like we requested – it was juicy and tender. The homemade chocolate cake was moist and the chocolate icing was to die for! I would also recommened the baked brie with strawberry sauce. The brie had almond shaving on top. It was delicious! The restaurant can be easily overlooked, since it’s in old city and next to other restaurants, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Service was fast and the waiter was friendly. I would definitely recommened this restaurant. I have posted some pictures of the food we tried on my other blog:

Just because something is high priced doesn't mean it is worth it. We stopped early in the evening and had steak and salad and my husband added a potato. If you did a blind taste test between one of their steaks and one from Outback, you couldn't tell the difference. We had wine and beer and it was over $100 for average food. The doors to the outside were open and people were smoking and the smoke was coming across our table. Disgusting! I can't imagine us ever returning.

We found this place with a Travelzoo voucher, and are we glad we did! Very casual atmosphere, more bar pub than steakhouse, wait staff was friendly and accommodating. If you're expecting a white-tablecloth kind of steakhouse or one all steel and glitz, this isn't it, but if you're looking for a good steakhouse meal without paying for all that glitz, then this is a good bet. Appetizers were stellar -- I had the baked brie (absolutely yummy) and my husband had the mussels provencal. We both had NY strips, prepared differently (I went with the pepper and the lemon-blue cheese butter), both were tender and cooked exactly as ordered. Baked potatoes weren't baked, they were steamed, but were acceptable. Best part -- when dinner is over, you have the rest of Penns Landing to explore, including local ice cream on the next block...

Marmont on Market Street was excellent. The service and food were outstanding and the owner delivered our steak to the table. We went for the 22 oz, 2 in thick cut and it was cooked to perfection. Not everyone can do that with that kind of steak. Great atmosphere for dining inside or out.

We ate dinner here because of a Travelzoo voucher. The atmosphere, service and food were all fine - nothing really stood out as excellent or terrible. I would have thought it was overpriced if not for the discount. There is just too much competition in Philly to go back to a somewhat unremarkable restaurant.
