“preeminent wine list and fine food”

Can't imagine a better northern Italian meal outside of Tuscany. And the service was perfect, attentive but never intrusive. A fine evening.

“Like 30 years ago...in the good way!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

When we first walked in there was a pause. It was beautiful and we thought maybe we the guys should have jackets. No worries and we were welcomed in. The wine list was hand assembled in a GIANT ring binder with love. I understand that it has been collected since 1976. Do not miss a peek at the wine cellar on your way to the bathroom....past the Grappa cabinet and down the stairs. The staff were amazing and friendly. What place have you been to where they still debone at the table? Stunning! Food was first rate. We all swore we could taste the grass that cow had before it was filet. We found out later it was the owner who helped us select from the bible. His selection spot on and we had a second bottle. Try to save room for the desert cart. One of the best cheese cakes I have ever eaten. I can not wait to return. Wish I could give one more star!!

“Don't expect machine guns at this Italian restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

The ambience is somewhat reminescent of a scene from a Godfather movie. Early 1920s style chandeliers combined with padded fabric walls and sconces give the restaurant a slightly pretensious air stiffened by the wonderful sounds of operatic music. I was there during restaurant week for a $20, three course lunch. The appetizer was rigatoni done al dente with a wonderful tomatoe, onion, bacon and olive oil sauce. Next I had the tenderloin in a pepper, brandy sauce. Yum Yum. Desert consisted of orange marmilade cake, chocolate walnut cake and a cheesecake with raspberry sauce. What a wonderful way to end a meal.
I tried the only chardonnay ($10) on the menu and found it lacking.
The wait staff was pleasant and accomodating.
Would I return? Definetly

“My favorate restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

We have been regulars since at least 1980. It has well made, and sometimes adventuresome Northern Italian food. The wine list is amazing. The people very nice. The pastas are some of the best I have every had. If you are interested in grappa they have at least 50, maybe more. It is a wonderful place to spend an evening. We have never been disappointed
