Family of four had a fantastic lunch at Silk City Diner this past weekend. Went out of our way to find the place because my foodie teenager wanted to go here (based on a "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" feature). Food was awesome. Atmosphere was fun and funky and the place was hopping. Had the option to eat outside or in. (We chose inside since the weather was a bit nippy, but there were propane heaters for those sitting outside.) The meals we had included: the grilled eggplant sandwich (w/ red onion, roasted peppers, mozzarella, arugula, and pesto on a really delicious, slightly crunchy ciabatta roll); grilled chicken sandwich (w/ provolone, prosciutto, broccoli rabe, long hots, and pesto, also on ciabatta); steak and eggs; and the "cider braised pork hash" which was pork with sweet potatoes which was sweet and delicious. HIGHLY recommend this place.

Grabbed a seat at the counter. Was eating solo. Parking out front or across the street. Don't forget to feed the meters. Two quarters will cover an hour. The staff was very helpful. The inside is eclectic in decorations. The bartender was very friendly and explained what they had on special, both food and liquid refreshments. Soup was good, could have been hotter. Had the Shrimp and Grits. Food came out quickly and was very good. In honor of Roger Ebert, two thumbs up.

Went there for brunch on Easter Sunday. So many good choices it was hard to decide. Had Pastrami hash, french toast. Everything was delicious!

We stopped in at the Silk City Diner on Easter Sunday. What a great place... The decor, the wait staff and most importantly the food. You will not be disappointed...

We had the huevos rancheros, the chocolate pancakes, the belgium waffle with ice cream and fruit, and a porkchop dish. The only thing that was left was a little bit of the pancakes because no one was able to finish them.

If you are in Philly and have any doubts... You must visit this place. My personal favorite was the huevos rancheros...
