Description: Mixto is a two-story natural wood and exposed brick building located on the east side of downtown Philadelphia on the historic Antique Row. We have been opened for ten consecutive years. Our vision has been to bring an array of flavors of the Cuban, Latin American and Caribbean cuisine to the Center City area. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with bar service and an extensive wine selection. Mixto offers outdoor dining with a South Beach Miami ambiance during the spring, summer & fall when the weather permits.

Our friend took us to this restaurant. Monday night, but it was 3/4 full. The waiters were very good, I would give all stars to the service.

Soup was shrimp bisque. Not bad, not heavy. The "obligatory" ropa vieja was what you would expect of a stew, very tender, no surprises. Tilapia Mango was, perhaps, the best dish - not drowned in butter with a side of delicious mofongo, among other things. Maduro relleno was a bomb in terms of calories, but not as delicious as it should have been: sure, it is a simple dish, but it was executed as such, just a few ingredients but overfried.

Sangria almost seemed non-alcoholic and the lemonade had too much lemon juice and way too much sugar.

Bottom line: do not order too much, though the portions are perfect size, not too large. Just a couple of appetizers and one entre would suffice for two people. $-wise this place is a fair deal.

Great food, unique and varied menu, fun atmosphere, good service, and reasonably priced. It is a bit loud, but not so bad if you sit near the open windows.

We went for brunch and had a great breakfast burrito. The service was okay. It was just the right amount of food.

Went on a Thursday night with a group of 8. Had wine, mojitos, and porseca at the bar while our table was getting ready. Started off with a appetizer sampler, which was outstanding! Empanadas, plantains, pork. The sauces and guacamole were great!! Excellent and diverse dinner options. I had the sliced steak which came in a cast iron pot with onions & peppers. My wife had a pork dinner which she loved. Desserts were out of this world!! Leche, Strawberry shortcake, chocolate cake, others finished the night in grand fashion. Can't wait to go back!! Wait staff was very good, always refilling drinks and checking up on us.

Even on a Saturday night around 8:30 pm, my group of six was able to get a table within thirty minutes, maybe less. We enjoyed a pitcher of mojitos at the bar while waiting. There are many types of mojitos and margaritas featured on the menu, along with other cocktails and drinks.

I ordered a few small things to try - beef empanadas, guacamole, and a salad. The empanadas were excellent and came with a really delicious, spicy sauce. The guacamole was good; not the best I've ever had, but it was definitely good and fresh. A plus - the guacamole was served with plantain chips. The salad was simple, nothing spectacular, but that was what I wanted, and I would order the salad again in the future. It had a base of dark green lettuce with other vegetables and fruits.

The menu includes lots of unique options. My friend ordered a beef and cheese stuffed plantain - it was well-prepared and unique. No one at the table had any complaints about their dishes. The service was fine - our water glasses were always full and the food arrived quickly. I would gladly go back again.
