Description: Mixto is a two-story natural wood and exposed brick building located on the east side of downtown Philadelphia on the historic Antique Row. We have been opened for ten consecutive years. Our vision has been to bring an array of flavors of the Cuban, Latin American and Caribbean cuisine to the Center City area. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with bar service and an extensive wine selection. Mixto offers outdoor dining with a South Beach Miami ambiance during the spring, summer & fall when the weather permits.

We had steaks there after a Mochito, which made me drunk :-). The meat was delicious, the rice ordered as a side dish was pure basmati rice prepared in a way that it was not sticky. This is not easy. Complementary rosted bread. mmmmmhhhhhh....It was warm enough that we chose a table outside. And it was walking distance from our hotel in the Walnut street. We both loved the environment and the waiters who were very kind and helpful with everything. Will come back again!

This restaurant was recommended by a Colombian friend, so we had high hopes. The appetizers (empanadas) and batidos were a great start. The atmosphere and the service were fine; the neighborhood is interesting. The problem was with the main course. While most of the side elements (tamale, maduros, avocado) were well done, the meats for both my wife's dish (bandeja tipica) and especially mine (montuno de lechon) were very dry. The pork in my dish reminded me of a seriously overcooked turkey breast; had to eat little bites just to get it down. I'd be willing to try again, but with different dishes.

Festive atmosphere. Both upstairs and downstairs were very noisy. Fortunately, we were able to eat outside, which was much better. Tasty, fresh food. Reasonable prices. Attentive service.

Cute Cuban themed restaurant in center city Philadelphia. Friendly staff and lively atmosphere. That's where the good news ends. The huevos rancheros we had for Brunch were substandard and unathentic in every way. First we asked for soft sunny side up and they brought the eggs dry and overcooked. The creole sauce needs the cook re-read his cooking books. It was no creole suace but just a tastless tomato melange. The refried beans were watery beyond anything we've ever seen before and the tortiall chips seemed just out of your local 7-11 store. Moral - please invest in your food if you want patrons to come back?

I was in town with my daughter, it was a beautiful day, and we were looking for an out door restaurant experience. We came upon Mixto and went in. Our first impression wasn't good. The hostess was miserable, no smile, just going through the basics. She set a very poor tone for the place. The decor is "too much dark wood meets bad steakhouse. The service was just ok. Prompt, but not overly helpful. However, our food was excellent.

My recommendation is that there are tons of places in Philly with great food. Go to one with better service than Mixto.
