“Enchanting atmosphere...excellent food”
Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

Chose Victor Cafe for my son's 13th birthday dinner. He loves Italian food and music so it seemed like a good choice. The experience was one he'll remember forever. The restaurant is in two old row homes, so it's a tight fit but its the kind of place where you might strike up a conversation with the next table. Our server, Lily, was a delight and added to the experience (also performed one of the best aria's of the evening). We started with their spicy calamari with garlic aioli which was nicely fried and crispy, the garlic dipping sauce is the perfect compliment. My son loved his Pomodoro Basilico and I had the seasonal special of Butternut Squash Gnocci, if it's available go for it...beautifully cooked with a sauce that you just want to soak up. The pesto and olive oil they serve with the bread is very tasty, even better spread onto your bread instead of dipped. The entire staff went out of their way to make a young man's 13th birthday a memorable celebration. Truly a one of a kind place and a must to do when in Philly.

Went last night for thanksgiving dinner, waiter sang better than he provided table service.

Plates were nit cleared. Entire meal was cold. Asked for gravy and it was cool to touch

Meal was $330.00 for six two of which were children

Should have stayed in rochester and eaten hot food, drank better wine and been treated with respect.

Chef dropped by to tell us this is their first thanksgiving meal don't really care he brined turkey for two days, it was so cold I didn't eat it so for $330.00 you too can take a doggy bag home so the meal will be hot.

Will not be going back nor will we recommend to friends.

Waiters voices were wonderful unfortunately we were hoping for hot food and some service, asking for our plates to be cleared no so great.

Not the thanksgiving we looked forward to.

“Where Great Memories Are Made!”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Hands down, this is our family's favorite Philadelphia restaurant. The Victor Café has again proven itself as one of the great Philadelphia experiences. The food is outstanding (loved the Prince Igor, with the pasta, salmon, caviar and asparagus in vodka sauce), the staff fantastic, and the music and atmosphere unsurpassed. All of the staff are extremely friendly attentive but not obtrusive, and once you have the chance to hear them sing, the evening becomes one of those events burned into your memory. During our time at the restaurant, we have the opportunity to hear all of the waitstaff, and even the second floor lounge bartender sing...and they were all fantastic!

The walls are lined with photos and paintings of opera stars. The rooms are small enough to be intimate but large enough to be comfortable. The second floor lounge and bar are relaxed, intimate and inviting.

In the past we have used the valet parking but tonight we happened to find a parking space about a block away. However, we got to see how hard the valet works as he passed us sprinting up the block and around the corner to retrieve a vehicle for another patron.

A hearty thanks to all of the staff for making our visit so memorable - again!
