While visiting Manayunk one weekend my girlfriend and I decided to eat here and ended up regretting it. The waitress failed to tell us about some of the appetizer specials and was very unprofessional. We got a veal entrée that was very bland and seafood pasta special that was good. For the price they charge there are definitely better options on Main St.

The food was good and the prices are good. I really liked sitting outside. Great place to take a date and people watch. The brother Shawn is not there :( he was very personal and i liked that about the place. Lunch specials are a good thing. The boars sauce was good too. It is worth checking out.

We've been going to this little place for years, mainly for lunch when every entree on the dinner menu is $9. A nice treat. So recently we bought a "Groupon" for dinner that included "a $10 app.to share and 2 entrees up to $23 each". This was great since, according to the menu, we would have had the choice of anything . OOPS ! The waitress tells us that 1 or 2 items are NOT included and the only explanation was that the owner said so. Even though they were, in fact, priced at $23. Sorry, but this isn't the way to entice people to come back. It has left us with a bad taste in the mouth even though the food is usually very good.Don't offer a "deal" unless you are willing to stand behind it.

I was really excited when I read the menu at Il Tartufo in the Manayuk neighborhood in Philadelphia because it read like a list of many of my favorite Italian dishes. The Roman style fried artichokes were a real disappointment because they appeared to be made from canned not fresh vegetables. The linguini with clams looked stunning with a bowl of enormous bivalves, but the taste was only ordinary. The house special pasta with wild boar sauce was similarly lacking. The pork appeared to have been roasted separately and thin slices were added to a rich tomato sauce. A seafood risotto was well prepared and featured a good assortment of frutta di mare. The atmosphere at Il Tarfufo is charming , romantic, and friendly.

Our family dined at Il Tartufo in Manayunk, outside of Philadelphia on a recent Saturday evening. Manayunk is recreating itself as an eclectic dining destination with many small restaurants. Il Tarfufo is trying to find a niche by recreating the cuisine of the Jewish ghetto in Rome. You can find specialties like fried artichokes (in season). They also make their own fresh mozzarella, served with tomatoes, basil and olive oil. Given their name, there are also several dishes featuring truffles. The portions are large so sharing should be encouraged. The wine list was small but it appeared that you could also bring your own bottle and they would serve it for you. NOTE: Be aware that Il Tartufo does not accept credit cards so be sure to visit the ATM before going there.
