“A perfect night for sidewalk dining, and just the right place to do it.”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

This BYOB gem was just right for an early fall al fresco dinner. We were trying for an 8pm concert at the Academy, so looking for places nearby. No reservations during the weeknight, meant we were taking a chance, and it worked out well. We had a choice of chef's counter or outside table, and given the delightful weather opted for outside. Got there by 6pm, and the line started shortly thereafter, so keep in mind. The ahi tuna was a fresh as could be and just seared as requested. My short ribs were juicy and flavorful with a nice base of polenta and braised veggies. Also prices look a bit high, the serving sizes were very generous (great for leftovers, if we weren't concert bound), and as BYOB made for a very reasonable, high quality dinner. Our server was excellent and mindful of our departure time. He knew the menu well and was receptive to our questions.

“Mediocre”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Except for the pleasant sit outside (away from the busy street seating elsewhere in the city), my experience was just average.

Service: Average. Helpful, but not attentive. I had to ask for a water refill (which took so long I didn't bother asking again).

Food: Greasy. Some in my group thought it was amazing, but I wasn't impressed. Gorgonzola / pear flat bread tasted solely of cheese (it completely overpowered any other flavors). Pasta was greasy and bland. Dessert (creme brulee) was good - but poorly executed (overcooked).

After hearing such rave reviews of this restaurant, I had high hopes. Audrey Claire failed to meet them.

“Fixed menu for dinner, careful!”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We met some friends for dinner at Audrey Claire (they made the reservation). They had only a fixed price menu for dinner, including all appetizers to be shared, a choice of entrée and desserts to be shared. They did not mention it at reservation. The food was good, some stuff actually very good, others just average. Desserts were nothing special. When we got the check, we were surprised with a $60 PER PERSON charge - no drinks included, cause this place is BYOB, meaning we had brought the wine from home. Bottomline: be careful when making your reservation. Food was ok, but I´m definetely NOT coming back.

“Somewhat Decent Meal Marred by Unfortunate Ending”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Out celebrating with friends the other evening at Audrey Claire. We were seated and promptly attended to by our waiter. He was somewhat inattentive, if not a little icy. We ordered the antipasti platter which consisted of several of the appetizer offerings. The portobello mushroom, asparagus and brussels sprouts were well prepared and flavorful. The tomato and mozzarella a miss, We also ordered several of the small plates including the haloumi which came with a tasty fig sauce. The bread provided by the restaurant on first glance appeared to be of a high quality but the fact that it had been frozen and served with a still cold damp center was inexcusable. The entrees were unbelievable delicious including the pappardelle & salmon. We ordered dessert and coffee. When we tried to pay the bill we were told that the restaurant only accepted cash no credit cards - something we were not aware of. When you are in a restaurant which is not inexpensive this can be a challenge. However, as we finished paying the bill and we drinking the last of our coffee, we were told to leave because they had other customers waiting. We were barely done our meal. Frankly, I don't care about other customers - there were some empty tables here and there and a few people waiting outside. When you book a reservation, that is your time and as long as you don't inordinately linger you should not experience being told to leave especially when your total bill is over $200. It was a nice experience for the most part, but I will never return to your restaurant based on several of the factors mentioned.
