What to say about The Abbaye? We have dinner here three or four times a month. It's the neighborhood dive that's not in our neighborhood. The waitstaff knows us and takes care of us, so we have no problems with service. Beer selection is always well-edited and thoughtful; even the misses are interesting. The food is good. There are plenty of veg and vegan selections, the fries are great, and the bread pudding is always warm and waiting for us when we're done dinner. Try the eggplant and asiago sandwich, the BBQ seitan, the fish and chips, shrimp po'boy, and the goat cheese salad. Brunch is not their strong point. The crowd is genial and neighborhood-y. Keep an open mind...and you better want to watch the Phils game, or you're out of luck.
