We stumbled across this restaurant in the city when looking for a place for a large party for dinner. After a quick peek at the menu and the reviews on TripAdvisor, we booked it. We were not disappointed! There were 19 of us and the service(1 waiter) was outstanding. The food came quickly and everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. I had the sea bass which was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Everyone was pleased with the choices they made. It was a bit pricey but worth it. If you are ever in Philadelphia, you can't go wrong having dinner here.

My wife and I have been dining at Varalli for 10 years now. I can honestly say that we have never had a bad experience there. The quality of the meals, the presentation, and service are all outstanding. This has been consistent all of the years we have eaten here. I would recommend the Bucatini Di Granchio, Lobster Ravioli, or the Shrimp Fra Diavlo. Get the Crab Coacktail for an appetizer. The staff at Varalli make you feel at home. From the welcome from George, the maitre d', to Karl at the bar (creative drinks. Try a chocolate martini.), to Eddie, our favorite waiter, all are friendly and knowledgable. The location is excellent for Center City shows, and we are always asked if we're going to a show so our meal is served in a timely manner.

Five of us returned here for dinner. We haven't been back here for several months opting to try-out other"hot" places in town. When we arrived there were three parties ahead of us,yet within five minutes the Maitre d' recognized us and warmly greeted us by name!He promptly led us to "our table" by the window where we had been seated on prior visits and where we could enjoy "people watching" on the sidewalk. Our professional, efficient, and friendly server arrived to take our drink orders and describe the menu changes and the specials including their prices. Our food items were appropriately placed without asking "who gets the pickled chicken feet?" The oysters were etheral, veal piccata superb, and moist, flavorful roast chicken. What's not to like?!

We've been eating here for years. The restaurant has always been good, but it's now better than ever. The decor is inviting; the seating is comfortable; and the noise level is blessedly low. The food and service are excellent.

Following a Sunday matinee we had reservations for Varalli's in Philadelphia. Having dined at this restaurant before we were very excited about this meal. What a disappointment! What used to be Upsatirs at varalli's and soto varalli's is now varallis downstairs and perch pub upstairs. The food was average Italian food with a very high price tag. Flat bread was ok, calamari no great shakes and what we had waited for the lobster raviolis were made completely different from when we had them there before. This was not worth the wait, especially when Philadelphia has many finer restaurants. positive: the service was good, negative my martini glass had a small crack in the rim, mentioned it to the server and received an apology, would not recommend or return.
