We have wanted to dine at Bibou for quite a while. Fortunately, we have friends who have regular reservations and they invited us to join them. The food was delicious and the service very good (just enough, without being overbearing). Chef Pierre greeted us shortly after we were seated and again came to our table before we left. We did not partake of the day's special (tripe), but enjoyed everything we ordered. I especially liked the steak tartare appetizer. This is a lovely little restaurant with a wonderful feel. Delightful.

Bibou is one of the finest restaurants in Philadelphia. Pierre is the chef, Charlotte is the hostess.
The food is excellent. The menu changes weekly, although some items are permanent.
We especially like the Sunday night prix-fixe. $45 for 4 courses. The soup is the only course people don't select. The apps, main plates and desserts are chosen by the diners. There is a good selection for these courses.
Escargot, fois gras, terrine are some of the apps. There is always a fish dish or two, beef and pork on the menu.
One of their specialties is the bone marrow dish. The marrow is mixed with bread crumbs and other things and then returned to a half bone. Another specialty is the pigs feet with fois gras.
Desserts and a cheese platter make for a nice ending.
The service is always cordial and professional. Bibou is a BYOB restaurant and is cash only. Choose some nice French wines and enjoy a wonderful meal.

Order from every course because the portions are small, marrow especially good.
You do get the feeling that you are judged by the wine you bring, if that matters to you bring the best you can afford.

The service was good and the food, outstanding. We took advantage of the prix fix menu on Sunday afternoon--and it was one of the better Philly bargains. From the starter soup, which was delicate and delicious, through the courses, we had nothing but praise. The food was well and subtly seasoned. Just perfect. We'll definitely go back--when we plan far ahead enough to get in. (We waited two months for this reservation)

It is a very small restaurant and it was very difficult to get a resv. I understand this is because many folks have standing regular reservations. And people are raving...She started with a cauliflower soup that was tasty, but not transcendent . i with the special appetiser of duck hearts and mushrooms in a heavy sauce. Not an offal maven, perhaps I should have ordered more conservatively. Sauce was excellent and delicious for about 4 or 5 bites but then just too overpoweringly rich for me. From there I ordered partridge. Breasts were just a pinch dry served again in a seriously rich sauce, the legs I enjoyed more (prepared confit-duck fat in this case). My better half ordered hanger steak ordered medium, but then she decided she liked the bird better so we switched. I'd have preferred medium rare, not their fault, presented as ordered. Again , a VERY heavy sauce, perhaps could have done with less sauce on the plate. Dessert was a divine tarte tatin. At $130 for two, a very reasonable meal. BYOB is great ....certainly could have spent another $120 on the 2 bottles of wine we brought in if had been a conventional restaurant. I'll need to try again, next time with food closer to my usuals, including fish. That being said we leave restaurants in France after meals of duck and beef often raving. Not really raving today.
