This was our second visit to Spassos. We had a great meal our first time there and were happy to find on our second visit that it was not a fluke. We were served warm bread and some diced roasted vegetables when we sat down. My wife had the Involtoni Di Manzo, rolled beef stuffed with cheese and spinach in a wine sauce. I had the veal carciofi and asparagi (veal with artichokes and asparagus). Both were excellent. The wine list was full of reasonably priced wines from Italy. The service was great. The restaurant is a little noisy and the tables a little crowded but overall it was a pleasant experience. The prices were very reasonable for Center City.

We were visiting Philly for the flower show and made reservations for dinner. Several things were not good with the visit. First, we brought our own wine and were advised they don't allow patrons to bring their own. Disappointing that everywhere else provides with a corkage fee, but ok. Then, toward the end of dinner, another party is seated, puts a bottle on the table they brought in, and the waitress opens it up with no questions! The service was very slow, but we allowed it was a busy Saturday. However our waiter never bothered to advise us of the specials. On balance, the food was above average, but the service terrible, I won't be back.

I visited this resturant based on Trip advisor reviews and location to my hotel. In simple terms it was excellent. Very simple, clean Italian menu. Fresh salad to start followed by an excellent Sea Bream artfully filleted whole at the table. Finished off by an excellent expresso, including the small but so often missed feature of preheated cup and spoon. Highly recommended. It was full by 19.30 on a Tuesday so book not to be disappointed!

We were visiting Philadelphia for the first time and read the reviews on tripadvisor and decided to try it out. The service was very good. The waiter made some good recommendations. We had calamari for our appetizer. Perfect. I had a the salad with goat cheese. It was a decent sized portion and delicious. We all ordered pasta dishes which were really outstanding. The restaurant is a little of the beaten path but right around the corner are some great bars if you are looking for dinner and a little night life. Going back in April and plan to head back there again. Excellent food for a good price.

A few things made me feel like I was in Italy when dining at Spasso's recently:
1. The exposed brick wall and old, charming feel of both the building and the area.
2. The waiter had a thick Italian accent. The group of 5 girls I was with nearly asked him to repeat the specials just so we could listen to him talk.
3. Homemade parpadelle (wide noodles) pasta with sundries tomatoes and mushrooms....delicious! (And at $17 reasonsbly priced for old city.)
4. We were offered limoncello or grappa at the end of the meal. (Each shot was $8.)

Overall we had a great dinner there. We' made reservations, but it didn't appear that any patrons had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table during the time we were there (6:30-8:00). Dress is casual; some people were a little dressed up but I saw many people in jeans. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was incredibly nice!
