My husband and I went with another couple to eat at Alma de Cuba last night and at the end of our meal we all agreed that the food was outstanding. In fact, the whole experience was wonderful. We had salmon, shrimp, lamb... all beautifuuly presented and absolutely delicious. The black bean soup was also delicious. We shared two desserts- the peanut butter pie and the chocolate cigar- and they did not disappoint. It was a bit pricey, but for food the quality we received, well worth it. This was our first visit to Philadelphia, but if we were to return, we'd go back to Alma in a heartbeat. By the way, the stairs to the upstairs dining room are indeed daunting. I took a look and knew my knee would never make it up the two or so flights. The hostess was ultra-accommodating and prepared a table for us on the main floor. She and our server were superb.
