This was our first time at a Hilton Home2Suites (H2S). We are familiar with the Hilton chain and are Hilton Honors members. We stayed at the hotel during a weekend of the flower show.

The Philly H2S location is perfect if you are attending an event at the convention center. The convention center is literally 1/2 block away. And, the hotel is directly across the street from the Reading Terminal Market! If you are not familiar with the Market, check it out on Trip Advisor. It's food in every style in small restaurants and markets. Fascinating and delicious!

The H2S just opened last summer and was built from the ground up (not a rehabbed building). They call themselves an extended stay hotel. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, utensils, etc. Ours was a king bed room and included a pullout couch to sleep two more. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The big TV is across from the couch which makes watching it easy vs watching from the bed, which of course you can also do. The room aslo has a "pullout" dining table that you could sit four around. H2S is a green-themed chain so the rooms were a little different. Just a couple of pillows on the bed (vs the typical 3 or 4), less room service unless asked for, and no little shampoos or stuff in the bathroom which did have a bar of soap and shampoo and soap dispensers in the shower (no tub).

Staff were very friendly and and accommodating. I had the need to call the front desk twice for service and the responses were very fast. There was a beeping going on in our room every few minutes and I couldn't figure out from where. Called the front desk (9:30 Fri night) and they sent someone up within 5 minutes. Turned out to be the "alarm" for the dishwasher door being opened. The second time was to get wash clothes which were missing after the room was made up on Sat. Again, called down (Sat 9PM) and in few minutes had what we needed with an apology. Check in and out was efficient and friendly. The staff at the front desk seemed to honestly care about our stay. Also used a bellhop to help us get our bags out of the hotel. He was also cheerful, timely, and helpful. Oh, as a Hilton Honors member you can request a late checkout, and generally get one, which I did. The woman at the front desk asked how late would I like it (vs telling you what you will get) and 2PM was no problem.

Breakfast was typical of Homestead/Hampton Inn. It worked fine for my wife and I. Watch your timing as the eating area seemed to fill to capacity quickly. If we had been down there after 8:30 it might have been hard to find seats.

The decor is, as someone else noted, Ikea-ish. It was different but fine. The staff is happy to tell you that the furniture is half made from recycled materials, that they don't use styrofoam plates or plastic utensils, and all the other "sustainable" hotel features. It felt "cool" to stay there.

There was an nice exercise room and a small pool. The volume of the music in both is too high, but then again, I did not ask for it to be turned down.

With taxes we paid $150 a night and had made the reservations directly with the hotel. I thought that was pretty good considering the location and being downtown.

Parking is expensive if you use the convienient garage next door. It is not part of the hotel but you couldn't get any closer. Paid $35/night, with no drive out. If we had used our car during the day the rate would have been $40/night.

The hotel does a pretty good job of keeping some of the curbline open in front of the hotel for drop-off and pickup.

So, this is not a fancy, high end hotel. But if you are used to staying at the mid-range hotels, you will like this H2S. We will definitely stay here again if we are going to the convention center, or even if we were going to do the history trip.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room that looks down on 12th st (the Market is on 12th). Also, as this is a p...

This new hotel (and new Hilton brand concept) opened in August 2013-I stayed here for the first time in march 2014.
I am a Marriott person for many years, and have tended to view Hilton as less up to date and less consistent.
The hotel was selected for me by the organization putting on a program at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
This is a great facility. The space design and amenities are outstanding for this price level. It is clear that Hilton invested a lot of thought into making the room work-great lighting, electrical outlets, climate control, bathroom design, easily cleaned and maintained-and a flexible design which allows alternate arrangements (screens, pullout beds) for different users.
The staff was excellent as well-the same front desk person was on duty at 830 PM when I arrived and at 815 AM when I left-and could not have been nicer or more positive each time.
Beds, carpets, design elements ail reflect a lot of thought and good taste.
My impression is that this hotel is a flagship location for their new brand-and there is a commitment to see it succeed. Come visit before the bean counters come in.
Great location-next to Reading Terminal Market, one block from great Chinatown restaurants.

Attended the flower show at the convention across the street. Hotel was great with a perfect location. Breakfast was great. The Reading Terminal is across the street with all kinds of food stores. Great location in the area with Chinatown located nearby. Restaurants also nearby.

This is the first time I've stayed in this Hilton sub-brand and I'm impressed! Huge lobby, friendly staff, big rooms with microwave, refrigerator, Keurig, and dishwasher. Comfortable beds. Ample, but typical, hotel breakfast. FREE WiFi!!!! Why can't all hotels do this?

A note to out-of-towers. This hotel does not have alcohol and you cannot just run down to the 7-11 to buy it. You can get take out beers from bars (but not the burger joint next store) and wine/booze from the spirits store on 12th Street. PA is weird like that.

After reading reviews we were prepared for a hopefully good stay and had noted a few reviews saying the staff were not very friendly and the breakfast served was lacking some things. It is worth noting that the price here is over $100.00 dollars less per night than other places in the same location.

The staff here was AWESOME! Every person we encountered during our 2 day stay greeted us warmly and said "have a nice day" or similar salutation. This included maintenance persons, breakfast staff, housekeeping staff and especially the front desk personnel. We were very pleased at how nice everyone and we do mean every one.

The breakfast is a "Continental" breakfast ... i.e. very limited items. It was very nice with a variety of cereals, fruit, bagels, doughnuts and even a Belgian waffle maker. I was not disappointed. There was coffee and milk and several fruit juices offered. It was free and although some reviews we read thought there should be more items and protein (which would make it not continental) most people I saw eating were enjoying it very much. A very nice young lady worked diligently to keep the area clean and well stocked and she had a sparkling personality that was awesome!

The facility was really clean and very well cared for. The fitness room was very nice, large and had more machines that most places we have stayed. I will agree with some reviews that the pool is small but this is downtown Philly where every square foot is precious and I cant blame the hotel for making it small and having more room in the areas that may matter more to more people. I kept in mind "over $100.00 less" than other places and it didn't matter a lot to me.

There was a parking garage next door and the price wasn't to bad for a big city and the proximity to the hotel made it worth it. We were happy to have read a review that advised to park near the 12th street elevator because it is the closest to the hotel front door.

Room Tip: If you are not used to "city noise" I would suggest asking for a room that isn't on th...

Stayed here last week for business. The rooms are very large and perfect for a long term stay as the have mini kitchens and a house. There is a great complimentary breakfast in the lobby and all staff were very friendly and helpful. It is near the convention center and within a quick walk to many other parts of the city.

Home2 is Hilton's idea of extended stay in a "green setting." First the good, hotel was new and very clean. The elevators were some of the best, you rarely waited more than a minutes. The TV was large and sharp (as you would expect since it was new) Now for the bad. They are trying too hard to be edgy. The rooms are minimal to a fault. The only window covering and two pull down shades. Without a curtain to muffle the sound you hear street noises as well as 6 AM garbage trucks. There is no door on the closet, just a curtain and there is an odd curtain you could use to separate the bed from the sitting area, but why? In room amenities were few and the staff does not appear to know how to properly make up a bed. The room was quite large, but they position the king bed so close to the wall that you only have 9-inches between the bed and the heating and AC unit. That causes another problem since it is one of those “under window” units you see in motels. When it comes on it makes noise and blows air over you. Perhaps worst of all was the "free" breakfast. They had posters all over the lobby claiming 400 choices .... really? Options were they typical tree breakfast variety, even somewhat limited. Still they constantly ran out of something ... including coffee. From the breakfast area you can see Reading Market across the street with dozens of amazing breakfast options. Frankly, the hotel seems too big for the breakfast area. Make it optional and everyone would rush across the street. All in all, Home2 seems like a cheaper version of a Homewood Suite or an Embassy Suite where they don’t make the beds or change towels on the weekend. As a concept it need work.

Room Tip: There are other, better options, nearby.

124C4NewEngland,

Thank you for staying with us at our new Home2 Suites by Hilton Philadelphia and for taking time to provide feedback on your recent stay. Home2 Suites is Hilton Worldwide's newest extended stay brand bringing a modern and savvy choice. It's the place for value conscious travelers staying a few months or a few nights. It's great to see your familiarity with Homewood Suites and you are correct that Home2's offerings are different. You're comments regarding the design of the room and AC location and food and beverage service is very helpful. While Home2 Suites is the 10th and newest brand to the Hilton family it may not be your top choice; please keep Hilton in mind when planning your next travels.
