This is one of the many overwhelming options to have a tasty meal at the Reading Terminal Market. They have a large variety of cheeses - most of which they make. They use brioche bread and grill the sandwiches and they are just delicious. You can purchase their cheeses, olives and condiments to take home. They are located at the back of the market. Yum! Yum!

MeltKraft is a counter operation in the not-to-be-missed ReadingTerminal Market in downtown Philly. It is the take out operation of Valley Shepherd Creamery, so you know that you are getting very fresh, high quality cheese. Several varieties of grilled cheese are on the menu. Our party chose the Somerset, a ham and gruyere combo, and the Melter Skelter, a raclette with pickled veggies which we were told by the cashier is the "staff favorite." Absolutely delish, filling sandwiches. I loved my side of birch beer.

Not so great was the very long line on the Sunday afternoon we were there. And one member of our party felt that the sandwiches are quite pricey for grilled cheese. But, 3/4 of us felt that we got what we paid for. Consensus was that we'd return. Great winter comfort food.

They were also selling freshly made cheese, including a fresh mozzarella which looked yummy.

the food is good but what really impressed me was that they knew their cheese. The cheeseman behind the counter knew the details of British cheeses such as knowing which counties in the UK could make Stilton and has an opinion on which Stilton he preferred. I was impressed. I had a Tewkesbury, which wasnt a British cheese but used Comte which was a surprise. He should have used a double Gloucester in the Sandwich. Never mind, it tasted good

We had "just made" mozzarella, prosciutto, and roasted peppers on a nice chewy baguette that was so fresh tasting and filling. It was a cold sandwich. and accompanied by dill flavored chips that were SO good. I would definitely return here as I want to try one of the grilled sandwiches. They looked delicious and everyone eating them seemed to be very happy with their choice.
