Mikawa is a beautiful restaurant presenting well prepared Japanese and Chinese food. A small sushi bar is to the left as you come up the steps from the entrance. An unusual marble chip covered wall is along one side of the modestly sized dining room and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, without the overwhelming noise and pacing that have so badly affected so many other restaurants.
On all of our visits, food has been delicious and a clear cut above the average Asian restaurant. Service has invariably been quiet and efficient and the quantities are quite generous, especially in view of the highly competitive pricing.
Take out and delivery are also available. A hint of Mikawa's approach: the condiments, which are usually tossed into the bag in random quantities are presented in their own closed glassine envelope.
Since they are directly across Broad Street from the Suzanne Roberts Theater, they are convenient to the Kimmel, Academy of Music, Wilma and Roberts and other popular venues.
It is quite suitable for couples, friends or business associates or indeed anyone interested in reasonably priced, delicious Asian food.
