Our whole bronzino with fennel and orange was nicely prepared, as were the sides of mushrooms and greens. The best part of our meal, however, was the dessert of sweet corn pudding. There's also a nice selection of wines by the glass, including some unusual selections such as zweigelt from Austria.

For our first time at Vernick we had the good fortune to be seated opposite the kitchen where Greg Vernick presided like a zen master on what elsewhere might have been a slammed Saturday night. Instead food, service, ambiance and a summer evening converged in a way that made the night joyfully tranquil and the meal a contemplative feast. A starter of toasts, which most other places would would be a high-profit afterthought, here are perfectly composed (our crab as with lemon aioli was a sonata); sea bream crudo let the fish speak its true, unctuous nature; roasted mushrooms with peanuts from the wood burning oven tantalized and paved the way for a roasted whole daurade with grilled romaine; crispy potatoes & shishito peppers on the side would make you forget the best frites you ever had. The wine list is stunning, studded with surprises, and not extortive; the staff as serene and unobtrusively attentive as any we have ever enjoyed dining with, from Bernardin to Per Se, from Mathias Dahlgren to Hélène Darroze.

I *really* wanted to love this place given how amazing all the reviews are. But at the end of the day, our experience wasn't the amazing, life-changing culinary experience I had hoped for based on the reviews. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars.

Positives
- The service is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable and sitting upstairs near the large, open windows creates a lovely dining experience.
- The beef tartare on toast and tuna poke were absolutely delicious.

Negatives
- The grilled romain salad, braised rabbit leg, and sautéed greens were so incredibly salty that even my husband who *loves* salty food had a difficult time eating it. This made up half of the food we ordered at dinner.

If I were to go again I would definitely stick with the toasts and raw rather than try their larger dishes.

I picked this place based on TripAdvisor reviews and it did not disappoint! Great service and food. Menu was not big, but it had a bit of everthing to choose from. Fried green tomatoes and blueberry pie were a great start and end to the meal.

Was wonderful; both service and the food - at least - meet the expectations! The menu is not extensive but covers typical preferences; meat, fish, vegetarian. The chef shows creativity and attends to the detail.
I had a great evening and recommend this restaurant for both taste and atmosphere!
