This time our stay was even better than last time. Great view over Independence Hall.

Tried the Red Owl Tavern for the first time for breakfast. Prices reasonable and food was ok. Good choice if you don't want to leave the hotel, but there are lots of good food nearby within walking distance, just right on Chestnut.

Been to a few Kimptons in different cities, but so far, this is my fav.

Perfect location, elegant rooms, wonderful staff! We got a large room overlooking the park and it was perfect. The beds are super comfortable, the hotel restaurant was terrific, and to boot there are little details like lots of extra electricity ports in the room. We almost stayed at the Ritz and I am so happy that we didn't. Did I mention that the location is absolutely wonderful – we are facing Independence Hall. My family would definitely return.

Room Tip: I got my room from Expedia and it was heavily discounted.

Stayed two days at the Hotel Monaco in Philly. Location was perfect - right across the street from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. This was part of a family visit - 18 year-old son and my mother. My mother walks with a cane and the staff was always helpful with her, making sure she was comfortable and could safely navigate the hotel. It was by far one of the most quiet hotels in which I have ever spent the night. Front desk staff made great suggestions for meals close by and "T" working the front door was perhaps the friendliest person we met in the City of Brotherly Love. Fun hosted wine hour in lobby, great restaurant attached to hotel. I'd highly recommend.

We stayed here as a family with 2 teenagers. The hotel staff were fantastic in ensuring that the room given to us could accommodate a roll away bed. The room itself was beautiful - the decor is unusual but really stylish. The hotel itself is right in the heart of historical Philadelphia. We were made to feel really welcome and wish we could have stayed longer.

We have traveled to many countries and stayed in many places. The Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia is one of the best experiences. We went for one night, 8/5/2013 to celebrate our anniversary. First, we were impressed with the decor. A bit fantasy and a bit eclectic and so much fun to look at. Colors and patterns I wouldn't dream to put put together but it all worked. When we checked in I was asked what brought us to Philadelphia. I said it was our anniversary. About an hour later there was a knock on the door. The hotel had sent us a huge piece of chocolate cake, 4 chocolate covered strawberries and a large bottle of champagne.

We did not eat dinner there but latter that evening we decided we wanted ice cream (yes, we gained at least 10 pounds in one day). We went to the hotel restaurant to see if they served any. They had standard vanilla and chocolate and sorbets. Not so exciting. When the hostess saw our disappointment she suggested walking about 5 block to an ice cream store. She said we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't!!! It was the Franklin Fountain at 2nd and Market Street. She could have tried to talk us into staying there but she took our wants into consideration (does this remind you of Santa Claus and the Macy/Gimbel's story?).

Check out was noon. We had valet parked our car (the only bad thing--it was $40/day). But, parking was good until 6:00 p.m which allowed us to walk around for the day before returning home.

It was a fantastic hotel experience and perfect for a romantic anniversary.

We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary weekend in Philly. We enjoyed the room as it was very interestingly decorated but not sure we would book it again. We booked the 650 s.f. king corner suite which included a living room, bedroom and bathroom which was their most expensive listed room on the website. I'm not sure the room described was quite what we got, in fact, I'm not sure the bed was even a king but we still had a good time and as we had noted that it was our anniversary, they included a bottle of champagne on ice and cocholate covered strawberries in our room when we checked in which was a nice touch. The room itself was on the dusty side and there was still tooth paste in the sink from the previous guest... They were also a bit cheap with the towels - only three in the room when it was booked for two guests - standard should be a minimum of four.

We've stayed in a Kimpton before and had enjoyed their "complementary cocktail hour" before, this hotel unfortunately did not have a very inviting lobby for that, it was too small and because it was in the same area as the check in desk, people with suitcases overpowered the space so we did not parttake. After our dinner out we went to the Stratus lounge which was part of our room package (so we didn't have to stand in line) and enjoyed that space. Its a roof top bar essentially and was quite busy. All in all it was a fun one time stay.

Room Tip: corner suite had an interesting view
