Owner description: The Barnes Foundation houses one of the finest collections of nineteenth- and twentieth-century French painting in the world. An extraordinary number of masterpieces by Renoir, Cezanne and Matisse provide a depth of work by these artists that is unavailable elsewhere. Established as an educational institution, the Barnes carries out its mission teaching classes in its galleries and Arboretum.

Don't miss this new location for the Barnes. It was wonderful and everything was displayed as it was in Dr. Barnes' mansion.

I had seen the Barnes Foundation collection in it's original location about 15 years ago. It has truly been reassembled exactly as it was. The new location is very convenient and restfully designed and landscaped. Timed tickets ensure that it is not too crowded and that you can see all the art. I only had 2 hours and wished I could have spent more time.

This is a definite must see if you are visiting Philadelphia and enjoy art! The collection is vast and you definitely want to spend a lot of time here! I consider this one of the best museums I have visited. A very remarkable Impressionist collection and the most Renoir paintings you will see exhibited anywhere. The display is very unique and works very well. It is crowded because the museum is modeled after the home they were originally displayed.
