My wife and I tried out this restaurant because we had a groupon. My initial impressions from our waitress were very good, as she immediately gave us a very detailed description about their drink specials and food specials. I was a little confused by the menu, as it dedicated a section to Italian food (as if they were half-heartedly trying to compete with the italian restaurant 3 doors down). I wouldn't expect that from an "American Eatery". As described below, some of the dishes were fresh and great, others were lack luster and seemed to be frozen. They should tighten up their menu and focus on serving fresh food.

We started with the calamari salad. The peppers, greens, and dressing were very good. The calamari seemed like it was frozen, as the pieces seemed too uniform in size and the breading was very dense and uniform - in fact none of it had fallen off. This appetizer was a great value. It would have been excellent if the calamari was fresh (or fresher) with a better breading.

My wife had the crab cakes. They were just your average (or below average) crab cakes with tons of breading, not a lot of crab meat. Something I again assumed was frozen,

I had the scallops. The scallops were excellent. They had a great sear and were perfectly cooked (I find that many places over cook them, as they should not be piping hot in the center - no more than a warm center). The sides were decent.

We went for dinner on a Tuesday night after purchasing a Travelzoo coupon which entitled us to 1 cocktail (or a bottle of wine) 1 app, and 1 entree each. We sat inside towards the back. The atmosphere was comfortable and friendly. The wait staff was pleasant and very attentive however food service was slow. We ordered the morning glory cocktails and they were quite good. Fresh ingredients and they didn't skimp on the booze. We ordered the short rib mac & cheese (good, not great) and the Thai chili shrimp (delicious). For our entree it was the scallops (over cooked and rubbery, but good flavor) and the skirt steak (well cooked but only average). Our experience was nice, but their prices seem to be way too high. We would not have been pleased if we payed full price. It was fine, but being that we don't live in the neighborhood, we won't go out of our way to return.

Got a great deal on a groupon and met 2 friends for brunch on a saturday morning. Wasn't sure what to expect, but definitely delivered! Good deal to have bottomless brunch drinks, and the food was much better than average. Service was attentive, good details on the food. we ordered a variety of things and we were all pleasantly surprised. We look forward to going back someday soon!

A group of 10 descended on the Brick Eatery this July 7th and left well-fed and happy.

Our server, Devon, was more than up to the task of serving 10. She was polite, speedy and efficient. Every request was met with a smile and all was delivered hot and delicious. Drinks were constantly replenished and condiments brought immediately. Considering that four of us took advantage of the "All the Mimosas and Bloody Marys you can drink in Two Hours for $20 (per person)" offer, this was no easy challenge.

Brunch is served 10 AM to 2 PM, with indoor and outdoor seating. The dining room is small, but not crowded (There is an upstairs piano bar as well). There is air conditioning, but I'm sorry to say that is wasn't really working that well, so call ahead if a/c is a priority.

There is something for everyone on the Brunch menu. You can find all of their menus on their website.

We had
The Breakfast Burrito Chorizo: tomato, onion, peppers, eggs,
cheddar, salsa, sour cream ($12.00) and huge;
The Wild Mushroom Omlette ($12.50);
The Italian Skillet- Sausage, eggs, tomato, potato, peppers, onion, mozzarella ($12.00);
Lamb Burger -Spicy onion jam, -Manchego cheese, Worcestershire sauce, mayo (16.00);
Shrimp & Grits 13.00 -Poblano peppers, grilled onions- large shrimp around great grits, topped with peppers!
and good ole Eggs Benedict ($11.00)

Some duplicate orders, but everyone was happy with their meal.

The basket of homemade muffins was great, as was the coffee and mixed drinks.

It's street parking so bring quarters and say a prayer.

Enjoy.

We had a Groupon for this place. Some of the food was good: short rib mac and cheese, fries, all American burger, lamb burger...but not worth the amount normally charged. Decent happy hour prices for beer and wine, but the cocktail I had was half the size as a normal and half the price. Service was pretty good. Our drinks well-served, big lag time for food. It was a balmy evening, and we don't like cold AC, but it was very warm and stuffy in the back of the dining room. One more thing, especially if management reads these things: the only things they had in the bathroom to dry your hands were paper NAPKINS that shredded when wet and stuck to our hands. It's the little things and the big things that have to be right for a resto to survive in Philly.
