“Only if your a Rocky Fan”

The statue is a larger than life version of Rocky. Situated before you climb the steps to the Philly Art Gallery.
It's a good statute and many people like to pose with it with silly poses.
It's fine to see it if your in the area but don't make a special excursion.

“Fun, controversial”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2014 via mobile

Apparently this statue split the city as to its location, originally on the steps, which upset the artistic balance. It's fun as everyone wants a photo. Beware some odd folk hang around directing and offering to take photos, no doubt looking for tips. Slightly incredible people hand over phones and cameras.
The kids love this, but you could have equal fun copying the pose of many other statues for some more original shots without the queue and odd hangers-on.

“It is Rocky!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

It is a destination point. Located right in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum, it is easy to find. Take your picture and then run up the steps, just like Rocky. It is a free activity and fun for anyone who has seen the movie.

“Philly's Rocky Balboa Statue & Steps”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

Philly's Rocky Balboa Statue
After visiting the unique Reading Terminal Market, we drove for some photos with Philly's famous Rocky Statue and the “Rocky Steps” — better known as the Art Museum Steps. A few years ago, my wife and I had our first visit but this time, our family group of six posed with Rocky Balboa's statue located at the bottom of the stairs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Just for fun, if it's your first visit, try running up the steps, take a picture at the top with the beautiful skyline of Philadelphia beyong the imposing Washington Monument.

One can park in front of the Washington Monument made bt Rudolf Siemering in 1897. The bronze monument portrays the nation's first President, George Washington, in his role as Commander-in-Chief during the Revolutionary War of 1775-1783.

Rocky Balboa Statue is one of Philadelphia’s most famous pieces of public art. It was created for the film Rocky III. When the film was completed, Sylvester Stallone donated the statue to the City of Philadelphia.

Like us who made the trip, thousands of people, young and old, recreate the scene from the legendary movie and make the trek up the steps.

“Rocky steps to the Museum of Art”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

Of course posing in front of Rocky's statue, with your hands in the air, does feel a bit corny. But don't take things too seriously and enjoy the moment. Walking, or rather, running up the steps is the thing to do, although, didn't see that many people making it to the top. If you love Rocky, or not, it's on the way to the Philly Museum of Art which is at the top of the steps and definitely worth visiting. This is a beautiful building and from the top steps you can enjoy the view over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and towards downtown. Just watch out for people asking to take your photo if that kind of thing bothers you.
