Owner description: Famous fictional Heavyweight Champion "Rocky" is forever remembered in this bronze statue, which pays tribute to the underdog.

At first we were told they did not want this Rocky statue in front of their museum, but due to the popularity with the tourists, it was moved to its present location. Tourists line up for the opporunity to post for pictures with this statue. Then climb the stairs to the museum - running the last 3 and do the Rocky jump and pose for pictures there. I know it's associated with a movie and not history; but it's lots of fun and something that should not be missed in Philladelphia.

We all posed individually with Rocky and his outstretched arms. We then ran to the top of the steps of the museum nearby (like Sly did in the movie). It was a fun use of 30 minutes.

I recently went to Philadelphia with my family and we decided since we are all Rocky fans to see his statue and the famous steps he ran up in the movie during his work outs. The statue was really nice and very well done. Just remember that you are going to see a statue so don't expect much because that's all there is to it. Worth seeing if you're a Rocky fan.

The statue is right next to the famous steps on the museum of art. We went at like midnight and there were a few people around, but it was nice because there was no lines, no crowds. We got to take our pictures and run up the steps without being harassed. If you've seen the movie, go and have fun.

Though popular, the Rocky Statue is not a great work of art and suggestions for more prominent display of it near the Art Museum have provoked controversy. Indeed, the unfortunate drape of the boxer shorts may provoke giggles at a distance. However, it is something people want to see if they saw the movie. Oddly, the Rocky of the film spoke with a New York/Northern New Jersey accent rather than a Philadelphia one.

The fountain across the street from Rocky is of far more visual interest, not to mention the museum just up the steps.
