Description: Opa is a new Modern Greek restaurant and bar located in Center City's Midtown Village neighborhood. The menu features a fresh take on traditional Greek flavors. Featured items from the mezedes (small plates) include herbed keftedes (meatballs) in a ouzo-tomato sauce, octopus and spinach croquettes served with a smokey feta dip. Large plates offer a variety of items such as striped bass and pastitsio. The signature cocktail list and Greek wine selection offer the perfect complement to your meal. Acclaimed designer, Jun Aizaki/Creme, created an alluring setting which includes a striking birch branch canopy. Walk-in seating is available at the 24 seat bar and offers the full menu.

Greek restaurants are not that common so for that reason alone this restaurant is worth a visit. The menu has a great selection of Greek dishes. The potatoes are fabulous. The horiatoki was tasty, the ingredients were super fresh. The fish was tasty and perfectly cooked. A good selection of wines. The wait staff is helpful - they will willingly direct you toward a dish and to a wine. One draw back - it was so cold by the window that we asked to move.

We went there for an anniversary dinner. I had quail and was very unimpressed. I kept looking for the meat and was disappointed. The martini was strong so sharing would be encouraged. The mini gyro appetizers were ok bit not really a Greek flavor. Won't be going back.

Not really Greek. The only thing Greek in this restaurant is the name. The food had a Greek flair but certainly was not authentic. I would describe the food as a failed American attempt at recreating Greek cuisine. A pushy waitress, who could not come even close to pronouncing anything on the menu that had a Greek name, and rushed service accompanied the poor food. To top it off, the restaurant consists of a few tables surrounding the bar where there was a group of loud and sweaty rugby players chugging beers. This is certainly not a proper spot for a relaxing dinner.

We went on a Saturday night - we had been to the Phillies game and so by the time we were looking for dinner, it was about 10pm. Hostess said the kitchen was open...it seemed crowded so we were happy to get a table. Drinks are pricey - but not extreme or any different than any other place in Center City. The appetizers were good - mini gyros, and meatballs were probably the favorities. We also had the grilled octopus - very small portion for the price! and the Mussels - which were OK - the broth was very good. We didn't have any main dishes.
As we sat there, we saw a parade of people walk through the restaurant to what we thought was a back room.
At precisely 11:00pm, the volume of the music was doubled, and the club atmosphere took over. Once we finished eating, we figured we should see what all the fuss was about in the back - and then we discovered Drury Beer Lane. It was an outside patio - and apparently there was a bar somewhere out there - but it was standing room only, and really no way to move - so we finished up our drinks and left. If we were not so tired from the traveling and game, and the drinks we had there, we would have tried to get a beer, but we left.

If you are going for the beer garden/indoor club - plan on getting there before 11pm unless you want to stand in line!
