Very nice small but lively place. Great for tapas and pinchos dining style. Cooking is classic Spanish style, many small tasty plates with nice selection of drinks. Spanish breakfast is a winner. Sardines were great as well

A change in scenery in Philly. Jamonera is a Spanish wannabe that strives to please. Tapas are all about creativity, knowledge, and ingredients and they have it all. Prices are high and ingredients genuine and high quality (well, the jamon a bit stale). Waiters need to be a bit more educated regarding Spanish food, especially tapas. Three of them did not know much about croquetas or their ingredients, and their information on the wines did not help either. A bit of a greater effort will take this place to a much higher slot.

This place has a sexy red glow and so much of what they do reminds me of my visit to Madrid. I love how you can order an excellent red vermouth on the rocks and a plate of Iberico Jamon.

The Sherry list is full of excellent choices and you can even choose to try a flight of sherries, which is the perfect wine pairing for Chef Turney's food. The menu is now better organized; the portions have even grown.

Must Try: Shrimp and Avocado Salad, Wild Mushroom w/ fried egg dish, Grilled octopus, Paella. Finish your meal with the Crema Catalan.

Be prepared for noise though, and know that the space is super tight.
They offer a great late night menu on the weekdays (after 10/10:30) with reasonably priced bites and drinks!

We went to Jamonera without reservations around 6:30pm on a Saturday night. Without reservations, they could only seat us outside, which was fine.
We each had a glass of the red and the rose sangria, which was very good. We had the bacon wrapped dates, which were delicious. The liver pate on toast was creamy and very tasty.
We also had the shrimp & avocado salad which had a ceviche feel to it and was very good.
The beet and goat cheese salad was a good, light compliment to the rest of our dishes.
Only complaint was the potato skins that were overfried and very salty.

Service was quick and efficient.

Very accommodating to our kids, even though they were the only kids there. Love the sangria, cut meat and cheese, fried artichoke. Everything we had was good. Staff was attentive. They also have alfresco dining.
