Rittenhouse 1715, A Boutique Hotel
Ranked #23 of 87 Hotels in Philadelphia
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Four highly discriminating guests decended on this boutique hotel with high expectations. We had booked our rooms based on positive reviews and we were thrilled with the experience. Daniel- the manager- and his gracious staff tended to our every need. The rooms were beautifully appointed and immaculate. Breakfast was an unexpected bonus. There was no need to run off to Starbucks for some excellent coffee. The service was better than at any restaurant.
It's clear that other discerning patrons have discovered this jewel of a hotel. The Barnes Collection may have brought us to Philly, but the Rittenhouse 1715 will keep us returning.
L. Phillips

Room Tip: Room 206 was quiet and lovely. Turn down service was a nice feature.

We checked in for a two night stay at the Rittenhouse and were happily surprised when we found out we had been upgraded to the Presidential suite. This suite was spectacular- two storeys, 1.5 bathrooms, big living room with flat screen TV and a faux fireplace. It also had a mini fridge to store your own drinks and snacks as well as a round table a few people could sit at for breakfast or use as a desk. The room was nicely decorated but small things, such as chipped paint and peeling grout, were in need of some TLC. The room was also extremely loud. I could hear the people in the room next to us cough during the night and hear every word of their conversation. Obviously, in old buildings, these things are to be expected but what was a little disappointing was the service. We asked for an extra towel (because there are only 2 small towels in the room) and they literally asked if we had already received our 2 for the day from the housekeeper. When we said we would like an extra, it was like we were asking for a free night's stay. They made a big fuss. The free breakfast also consists of bread and jam, some bananas if you're lucky. Overall, a good hotel but definitely not 5 stars.

I stayed here for a single night on a business trip and was very impressed by the rooms, the service and the location. It's located on a quiet street right off the park. The staff was very friendly and will be more than happy to make restaurant recommendations. The rooms were well decorated, great bed, shower, and there's an iMac in the common area on each floor. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location to stay in Philly. Nice staffs. Beautiful interior.
There was no temperature control for individual rooms and it was a little bit cold though.

The Rittenhouse hotel is a nice property with comfortable rooms and large bathrooms. The breakfast in the morning is a nice touch -- continental breakfast included in the rate and juices, smoothies, and hot items available for purchase. Parking is a bit inconvenient (down a few blocks in a garage for a fee), but that was the only drawback and we knew about it well in advance. The neighborhood is a bit removed from the historic center of town, though that was a quick bus ride away, but it's a great area for shops and restaurants. Really, though, the best part about the hotel was the staff, especially at the front desk with recommendations, ideas and just general friendly/helpful attitudes.
