Hampton Inn Philadelphia Center City - Convention Center
Ranked #26 of 88 Hotels in Philadelphia
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 5, 2006

This was the weekend of the Army/Navy game and Philadelphia hotels were packed. Every hotel in the area was going for top dollar. We reserved the Hampton Inn at a much more reasonable price even though we did not know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise when we arrived. The hotel is in a great location for all activities including being close to transportation that will take you all over the city. We were able to take the train from the airport to almost the front door of the hotel. The staff couldn't have been nicer. This hotel was busting at the seams with guests and they still tried their very best to follow through with any requests that we needed. The beds were soft and comfortable - much better than the regular beds that you get at a 2-3 star hotel. The breakfast was adequate. We loved the Reading Market for lunch which is right down the street. Check out the Philadelphia Pass which you can get at the Visitors Center or bid on it on SkyAuction.com. The pass is well worth its cost. Have fun at the Hampton Inn!

We had booked a cheap offer in a newspaper in England for flights & 3 nights in a hotel in Philadelphia. We had never stayed at a Hampton Inn before & as it was only posted as 3 * we were not sure if it would be any good. It was excellent value for money & we could not fault it for what we wanted, a clean comfortable, central base to explore Philadelphia from. The staff were all helpful & friendly, the rooms immaculately clean & the beds very comfortable. The free breakfast was fine & there was complimentary tea & coffee 24 /7. The Penn View Diner & bar opposite was great - cheap & cheerful food & drinks & again very friendly. It was only 15 minutes walk from all the historical attractions & the mainshops bars & restaurants. The area felt safe & we were not worried walking around there. Would definitely recommend it if you are on a budget.

What a disappointment. Last Spring I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Denver and found it to be wonderful. Based on that experience, I booked my family at this hotel. I found the room to be very small and crampted. We had requested a crib for the baby. It was old and had a poor fitting matress. We also asked for a fridge and microwave. The room was so small that they had trouble fitting them in.

The complementary breakfast was fine, but that is the extent of it. After one night I check us out and moved us to the Courtyard, which was a very wise move.

This hotel is excellent value if you want to stay in the City Center of Philadelphia. There are many over-priced run-down hotels in the area that advertise themselves to be much better than they are, it is buyer beware. By choosing this property I found it to be relatively new. I found no flaws with the room or hallways, and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The laundry room was very clean and the vending machines were well stocked with supplies for purchase; the one washing machine and clothes dryer they have are also new and reliable, as I had found the entire hotel to be in general. I will stay here again when I return.

This property was very clean and convienent for sight-seeing in Philly, and the city tours pick you up from the lobby at 10 AM, which is great for families and business travelers alike. We were sightseeing with our one year-old baby and a Combi travel stroller and had no problems getting on and off the tour trolleys.

The hotel valet parking may seem expensive, however when compared to the other hotels in this city, you will find it to be reasonable. Unlike some other reviews I had read about their parking, it is actually charged to your room as it should be, you do not have to pay cash.

The breakfast is average continental fare with powdered eggs, try the diner across the street for something better to start your day, or walk three blocks to the Terminal Market. And try the City Tavern for an unique "living history" experience for lunch or dinner, the tour trolleys can take you nearby from the hotel for lunch.

We stayed at this hotel and have no complaints. All the staff were very nice and friendly. FYI the pool is closed "indefinitely" for renovations. Our room was clean, the bed soft and comfortable. Bathroom was clean, water was hot, water pressure fine, towels reasonably soft and thick. Breakfast was average or slightly above. The staff kept the tables very clean. Valet parking was only $3 more than self park so we did that, and even though we were told it would take up to 25 minutes for our car to arrive, it arrived in less than 5 minutes. We had to stay in the area for an early morning appointment and this was the least expensive hotel.

we stayed at the hampton convention center to attend the streisand concert in october. it is a more than decent hotel. the beds were wonderful, and the room was clean. i agree with the previous posters about the excellent staff on the premises from richard who took my tray at breakfast to the lady who came to repair the toilet at midnight. these folks did everything that they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. we will be back. thanks to them for their assistance.

Just returned from a 3 day weekend in Philly. This Hampton Inn next to the Convention Center was beyond my expectations. Stayed at one other Hampton Inn in Viginia which was very nice but was unsure of the location of this hotel. The neighborhood was fine. The location was great-off of busy Market Street yet 2 blocks from Reading Market, and a couple of blocks from all the stores. The hotel was clean, the staff very helpful and friendly and the maids were very good at promptly cleaning the rooms and giving us the extras we needed. Would highly encourage a stay here and would stay here again
