“Bedbugs!”
Reviewed April 14, 2009

My boyfriend and I just returned from Philadelphia yesterday and are disgusted. Sunday morning, I woke up with bites on my back, arms, and right below my left eyebrow. I thought that it was a spider but started to think differently when my boyfriend woke up the next morning with bites on his body. My mother and boyfriends both told us that there was a story on the news about how there is an infestation problem right now with bedbugs on the East Coast.

The staff was friendly but a little incompetent or lazy (not sure which one). If it wasn't for the bed bugs, I wouldn't have minded staying here at all.

The Hampton Inn Philadelphia has never had a bedbug issue and was never notified by this guest that there was an alleged incident. Our rooms as well as the public area are treated weekly by a reputable pest control company as a preventive maintenance measure for all insects/rodents. As you can see by previous reviewers, our hotel prides itself on clean rooms, professional service and comfortable surroundings. The Hampton Inn was never told of this incident and never was able to inspect the alleged room or witness bites on the guest.

This is a great value. Convenient location to market street and the blue line subway. Very nice lobby and rooms. Good breakfast. Parking is $20 per day though. There are several other hotels nearby, so there are enough people walking around in the neighborhood to keep it reasonably safe, but walking alone after 11 pm or so would make me a little nervous.

I stayed here once in Feb 09 on my business trip. good hotel. nice staff. Being a Hilton Gold, I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite (on request). stayed on the 10th floor, which was supposed to have a good city view, however there was construction activity for the going on right next to the building (on the side of my room). The room was good, decent size Jr. suite. Many dining options around the hotel, the china town is supposed to be at a 10 mins walking distance - I decided to pick up a Philly cheese sandwich from Jake's just around the corner which was OK. The hotel is located in Downtown so many other dining options, including MAGGIANO'S or the reading terminal (which closes at 8 pm) just a 15 minute walk from the Hotel, also the Liberty bell was around 20 minutes walk. They have good breakfast included. The pool is good, like any other Hilton Garden. The gym, though I did not use, looked small with a few equipments. The staff is friendly and helpful. It takes about 30 minutes drive from PHL airport - I used the Lady liberty shuttle - about $10 each way.
I have stayed at Hampton Inn and the Hilton garden inn in Philadelphia city center ,which is just 5 minutes away from each other . The garden inn is better than the Hampton but more expensive. I think I will do the Hampton Inn if its at least 30-40$ cheaper than garden Inn.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a one-night getaway. The hotel staff was welcoming and friendly at check in, as well as when we had questions about finding a place to eat dinner. We requested an extra hour beyond normal check out time and our request was handled with no problem.
The lobby is small but nicely decorated. Same for the room. We had a king bed. Very comfy, with quite nice linens. The room was on the small side but it was fine for us. The room was very quiet, which is a big deal for me. There is some construction going on right in front of the hotel, but our room faced the other side of the buidling and we didn't hear any construction noise.
The neighborhood is a little rough around the edges. Heading south, you hit the major center city area, but heading north things are a bit more run down. This hotel is right on the edge of that line. You definitely have to be aware of your surroundings when walking in the area. That was the only real negative to our stay.
Free breakfast is included, with plenty of choices. The hotel was crowded the morning we were there, so finding a seat was difficult, and there was about a ten minute wait for the hot items to be replenished. But we were in no hurry and there was plenty of coffee, fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc. Parking is about half a block away. Self-park is $20 a night. Valet parking at the same lot is available for $20 plus taxes. Didn't see the need for the valet since we only had one bag.
Overall it was a nice stay. The rate was not bad, $116 for a king, booked through AAA. It's a basic, simple hotel without a lot of amenities, but for a comfortable place to sleep it's fine.

This is the second time i've stayed at this Hampton Inn. The hotel is right behind the convention center and is convenient to everything. The staff is EXCELLENT!!! The free breakfast is good as well. I will stay again if I come back to Philly.

Close to the train station, close to the convention center, and this place was clean, in addition to being convenient. The staff was friendly, and extremely helpful. Rooms were exactly what we needed, nothing more, and nothing less. Would definitely recommend if you have something going on in this neck of the woods.

We spent a three days weekend in Philadelphia in this very comfortable hotel. Staff is very friendly (Kathlyn was so kind with us when we arrived after a very bad experience in a motel near Philadelphia), breakfast is really good and there is large enough to eat. The rooms are clean, very well furnished and the beds so comfortable !!! Self-parking accross the street ($20 per night). Very nice stay, very good night (with a lookout on the city hall ...).

  • Liked — The beds !!! So comfortable
  • Disliked — Parking is not free ...
