Went to the Twisted Tail this past weekend with family. The place has two floors; first for the main restaurant, the second for music. There's bars on both floors. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Twisted Tail's menu is interesting with a lot of dishes you wouldn't find elsewhere....a surprising amount of comfort food mixed with some exotic choices. It's a bourbon bar, so they have a large selection of that. Our waitress was extremely knowedgable on the bourbons, which was really helpful since we were novices.
Decor is minimal, a little on the dark side. Noise level is OK, the place was full, but we never got to the point where you had to shout to be heard. Prices for food are surprisingly good, but the drink prices are fairly standard for this part of Philly.
One note, not a criticism but more of a heads up. You can't hear the band upstairs when you're downstairs. That's good in a way...but we got caught sorta hanging around downstairs until we thought we should head up to hear the group. By that time the band had already been playing and there was no more seats. So, if you're thinking of taking advantage of both a meal and the band, just keep that in mind.
The staff went out of their way to be friendly on our way out. The manager stopped by our table during the meal to check on us. The people there seem to sincerely like working there.
We will go again, and we strongly recommend the Twisted Tail for a fun and tasty night out.
