“Unusual atmosphere, great drink selections if a bit slow on service.”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

The Framer's Cabinet was another stop in a night of exploration for décor and atmosphere variation from the norm. When you first enter an adjustment needs to be made by your senses. The interior is darker than most, decorated with a lot of wood, nicnacs and most importantly....many candles burning, some on high shelves. There are different areas to order and have drinks and we settled into an available corner. We spent our time waiting to be served, admiring the unusual interior décor. So the wait was not unpleasant. It seems the bar tenders are very intent on making craft cocktails, seriously so and this may add to the wait time. It is a pleasure though to watch someone put so much energy into making things turn out right. Ok, so we had our drinks, they were superb, loved being there, then it was time to explore more. Try this one. it's a winner.

“Beer and Cheese”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

Wow, what a spot. The beer list is outstanding and the cheese/ meats are off the chart. Damien the bar mate was very good as well. I would go back to this spot often!

“Would never go back!”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

I'm the first one to review a great restaurant experience, but I also feel I have to take the time to give some negative feedback on this as well. I had high hopes after looking over the very interesting menu online and walking into a very great decorated and different looking restaurant, but unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Although our server was very nice, the service was unacceptably slow, and with our party of 8, no one liked their food. One entree came out ice cold, my venison was tough, extremely rare, and just no flavor, the veal chops were almost all fat, etc, etc, etc. To make matters worse, the mgr came to our table to ask how the service was, we said "very slow", he said "oh" and walked away. Judging by the other negative reviews posted, if this establishment doesn't step it up very quickly, they won't be around much longer. There are plenty of other awesome places to eat in Philly.

“Skip dinner. Just get drinks to see the band. ”
Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

Ambience is very cool, like stepping back in time. Band is awesome. However, food is over priced and lacking in quality. Venison was dry and smothered with BBQ sauce. Rabbit was OK, but watch for tiny bones.

“Great Ambience, Slow Service”
Reviewed November 8, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Farmer's Cabinet has an old speakeasy vibe paired with modern food and a nice draft list. Even sitting at the bar, however, inspires slow service despite three bartenders being available. I'm not one to be impatient but an empty glass should not sit in front of me as the bartender passes hurriedly three or four times. Additionally, a conventional cocktail should not take 15 minutes to make. While the food and beer were good, the cocktails were lacking. I really wanted to like this place but the service, combined with the poor value (things are $1 or $2 more expensive then they need to be) will prevent me from coming back.
