Description: Behind the wrought iron gate, past the herbaceous patio and through the atrium is Talula's Garden, the warm and elegant Washington Square eatery from Aimee Olexy and Starr Restaurants. The modern menu, prepared with carefully-sourced ingredients and a light European touch, changes with the seasons. The artful cuisine, hospitable staff, sustainable spirits, and a focus on cheese make the dining experience here incredibly memorable.

“Freshness Guaranteed”

Wonderful place with locally sourced fare. Great for vegetarians as well as meat eaters - my husband had duck. All of the food tasted like it just came out of the garden and they had very inventive specials. Definitely try one of the cheese tasting plates - the cheese is amazing and original in flavors they also do a nice job of pairing it with natural nuts and berries. Kudos!

“"Farm to Table" inventive fare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2012

Ever since I moved from CA to PA I have been looking for a restaurant that honors farm-fresh food and inventive cuisine that is healthy. We discovered this restaurant on Trip Advisor searching for something walkable to Independence Hall on the 3rd for the Pops concert. The cool, light atmosphere, outstanding and informed wait staff, prompt service, and delicious food made this an incredible experience. Highlights included Tile fish in a chamomile sauce, blueberry cobbler with sweet corn ice cream, fresh-brewed green tea with honey (the real deal), risotto and brioche rolls with basil. Love this restaurant and we will be back. They validate at a Walnut and 8th garage which gives $3 off your fee. The valet parking is expensive at $16, so this was a nice option.

“Wonderful place- using local items on menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2012

I had the good fortune to dine here with my partner- we both had wonderful meals- I had a tasty white fish and he had porn that he couldn't stop raving about- the room used to be a bank- but it is transformed into a high ceiling warm toned wood intimate restaurant - take advantage of the cheese selections - it was the highlight of my meal personally- the cheese expert was on hand and she took me through the various items and explained the origin- very interesting and TASTY !

“So Fresh”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2012

We ate here Valentine's Day weekend and it was delicious! Loved the master cheese platter and the gnocchi appetizer (it was kind of a small portion for 14 dollars), but it tasted amazing. I had the beef dish and everything down to the side vegetables were packed with flavor. Ambiance was cozy and romantic.

“simply divine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

As a veg/carnivore couple, we strive to find restaurants that can satisfy both of us without feeling one or the other is having to settle. We were excited about this place having read their menus online, lucky enough to get on the waiting list a few days out and then scored a reservation on the night we were hoping for. We sat at the lovely little bar first and enjoyed the company of the creative and knowlegeable bartenders, who were serving up old-school concoctions with house-made syrups. We had a table outside, a charming courtyard area with funky gardening decor. Food was simply divine, from the cheese plates (they have an entire cheese menu---if you're into cheese, don't miss it!) to the bread to the main courses to the deserts---all fresh, all divine. And spring for the $4 bottle of house water. Really. It's good. Service was friendly and professional. We'll be back next time we're in Philly!
