I just ordered a plain cheesesteak with provolone. It was a good size sandwich on a sesame hoagie bun. Seemed a little dry for me, but still plenty of flavor.

Sensory overload surveying the display cases!!...sandwiches, pasta, salads...but we came for cheesesteaks and they were great! Get the homemade cheese sauce (they also offer provolone or american). There's plenty of meat and it's tasty. The quality seeded roll stands up to the weight and cheese/etc and stays firm. Two women split a regular cheesesteak. I had the spinach/garlic one and asked for hot peppers too. WOW! Never heard of such a steak and may never have anything else!!

There's no seating per se, but there's seating nearby available to anyone. The staff was friendly and organized and knew how to handle the lunchtime rush.

As we were browsing through the Reading Terminal Market, we came across By George Pizza, Pasta and Cheesesteaks. They have a display case that will make you drool. So many Italian specialties such as olives, artichoke dip, roasted peppers, marinated mushrooms and fresh mozzarella. Tons of sandwiches, pizza, and fresh pasta, cut to order. All of the their products look fresh and delicious. We had to control ourselves. Since we had already purchased a sandwich from another place, we only wanted a salad to go along with it. We decided to try the tortellini with pesto and peppers. It was very good. The people at By George are very nice and helpful.

The slice of pizza that my husband bought didn't look like much on the white paper plate it was served on, but it was so good. It was cheap, fresh, and hot. I'm glad we went on Trip Advisor to find this place! I wish I had tried their cheesesteaks. Stay away from Jim's Steaks.

This shop is located inside the Reading Terminal in downtown Philadelphia. We were looking for a couple of sandwiches to have in our cooler the next day for our return to North Carolina, with the priority being they wouldn't get "soggy" after sitting for hours. By George had a display of beautiful sandwiches in their case and the Chicken Caesar looked the most "non-soggy!" We got one sandwich ($8.95), had the vendor cut it in half and then wrap each section securely in foil. The sandwich was very good; I can't imagine how delicious it would have been had we been able to have him heat it and then eaten it right there in the terminal! Beautifully displayed merchandise and great customer service.
