Located on 7th Street between Chestnut and Walnut, this is a cool spot with an upscale vibe and a nice collection of whiskeys/scotches. The sweet potato fries with sriracha sauce is recommended! Went on a Saturday night without reservations from around 7 – 9pm and it was not crowded at that time. Scotches ranged in price from $10 to $40 per glass, with a good selection around $15-$16.

Here's the Love. They have a great whiskey collection and a rotating selection of really good craft beers on tap. The food is very good for pub fare. Pulled pork sandwiches, wings, burgers, etc. They have good happy hour specials and great bartenders.

The Hate?
This place is in the lobby of the Curtis Center and is owned by the same people that run Cescaphe catering. I think this place only really exists to feed the catering business, and get them a liquor license. They have strange hours and are closed whenever there's a catering event. Believe it or not, there are dimwits out there that think its classy and unique to have their wedding in the lobby of a nice office building that they hang a bunch of white tulle fabric on the walls and string up plastic beads that are supposed to be some kind of chandeliers.
So sad.

The Cooperage is located near Independence National Park but is also in a nice residential neighborhood of Philadelphia called Washington Square West. Besides being in a great location, we had a very pleasant dinner there. The menu is Contemporary/American which was good because of the varied choices. One of us was hungry and had a perfectly done steak while the other chose a salad and a very good Quesidilla appetizer. We had a beer from the bar before eating and picked from a good selection of IPAs with the assistance of a very helpful and knowledgable bartender. The waitstaff was equally professional and courteous.

This would be a good choice for those visiting Philadelphia but prefer a "non touristy" restaurant close to all of the historic attractions.

Well I really wanted to stop here because I had found it online and loved the aesethic and mood - but the pictures on the website are very misleading. First of all it is located in like, a shopping plaza or mall and its very tiny. I was just under a different impression. The staff was so SO nice and fun and helpful and they are the reason we stuck around!
The Whiskey selection is good but the prices aren't always in keeping with my own experience for certain brands. We had two rounds here and enjoyed it, although I am usually turning my nose up a little bit if there are large flat screen TVs with sports on them, which there were.
I don't remember what the music was, but that means it couldn't have been bad!
I MIGHT stop back here for a drink, but might not. Its definitely not the place I thought it was.

Stopped in for a drink and was pleasantly surprised! (Went here before Talula's Garden) The bartender knew a lot about the drinks. Good and varied beer list. Just a nice spot for a before or after dinner drink.
