For the young this a vibrant place with a big bar and plenty of salty food to complement the alcohol. For the older and slightly deafer this place is way too noisy. Even the waitress apologized for the noise level. The food would be good but it is over salted. Shame. South 13th street isn't ready for restaurant prime time if this is the best it has to offer.

So many interesting ways to eat vegetables (and non-veggie food), so little time. One of the best in a city of Foodie Finds.

Barbuzzo was hands down the best meal we have had in Philly in years. The service was top notch. Things that are a must: meatballs, foie gras, uovo pizza, pig popcorn, meat and cheese boards, and the tonnarelli pasta. Another must for dessert is the salted Carmel budino. The great thing about this place, the plates are all pretty small so that you can try a bunch of different items on the menu.

And I mean that literally. The food is a delight for the senses. It's authentic, fresh, delicious, reasonably priced and served in portion sizes that let you sample a lot of different tastes. There is nothing on the menu that doesn't tempt me, but my particular favorites are the various pizzas. Only in the best places in Naples years ago have I had as good.

In Philadelphia for a few days, lots of art, good restaurants but this was wonderful innovative food served with no pretension in a low key space. Great wine list. This is food for sharing though I only had a bit of the bone marrow my partner raved about. I could have eaten the sheeps ricotta all night but would have missed the very different beet salad, the pork tenderloin with fennel and mushroom and a truly amazing gnocchi dish. This block of thirteenth st is full of good places to eat.
One caveat re Barbuzzo...it is noisy, for us part of the atmosphere., but not for everyone.
