After hearing so many "great" things about the Grey Lodge we decided to head over. I found the barman to be quite rude and when we requested the jukebox we waited until the barman finished watching his show on tv?!?! Easily the most overrated pub i've ever been in!

Having heard good reports about the pub in NE Philly, stopped in on a slow Wed to try their Philly Cheesesteak & fries that were judged top five in the city. While there is no "bad" cheese steak, while very good, the offering didn't seem to measure up; maybe I was expecting too much. The fries were excellent; a little different than what is usually seen. The Grey Lodge offers a wide selection of beers on tap, most of which I wasn't familiar with not being a beer officianato. Being midweek, there were plenty of tables open and the 2nd floor dining area wasn't open. The capable bartender also served as the waiter.

Grey Lodge was the magical place where I was first introduced to Craft beer. Circa 2007 I started coming here with work friends for happy hour. Not nothing anything about craft beer, bartender Doozer helped to refine my palate by pairing crafts with flavors I knew I did like. My obsession was born! I like to visit at least once a month.

They have tons of rotating beers on draught and cask, and a huge board that lists up to date selections. The also post daily on their facebook page the latest offerings in topnotch beers.

The food is pretty good too. The fries are fantastic. It is no le bec fin, but I wouldnt say they serve typical bar fare.

I would HIGHLY recommend this bar to any beer lover like myself. I would also rec it for any budding beer lover, they are very patient and helpful :)

Oh and Friday the Firkenteenth...well you should just search for it online...amazing!!!!!

The Grey Lodge is a true gem in the very ordinary landscape of Northeast Philadelphia bars. There are no other places around where you have a rotating selection of unique and tasty beers. In addition to a great beer selection they also offer a pretty darn good choice of liquors. You'd be hard pressed to walk into any other local spot and find Laphroaig Scotch, Single Barrel Jack, Bluecoat Gin, etc- to name a few.

The food is excellent as far as pub fare goes. Great cheesesteak (albeit a little undersized), delicious fish n' chips, and surprisingly good entrees of all kinds.

The Grey Lodge has a truly friendly atmosphere. It is not the kind of place where people go to get obnoxiously drunk. If you go there and order a Jager Bomb you will have it served to you, but will probably get a look from the crowd that simply says "Really?". Most of the people who go there have a true love of beer and pub life, and that creates an uncharged atmosphere. It's no meat market, though you will absolutely have no problem striking up a conversation with the folks around you. The bartenders are regular, friendly guys who do their jobs extrememly well.

Every Friday the 13th the Grey Lodge holds its much loved "Friday the Firkinteenth", and this is where rotating casks of ale from a variety of brewers are cracked open and served throughout the day. I went this past April, on a picture-perfect spring day, and it was an incredible experience. A must-do for anyone who loves beer and can get off of work!

The Grey Lodge is simply a great establishment.

I have to admit the food is.standard pub fare which is tasty but nothing stellar. Drink more and that could change. That being my negative the positives are the huge selections of on tap beers. The selection can chage daily and they keep customers informed about upcoming events and what is inline to be tapped next. The place has a nice neighborhood feel. If you like to try new beers, ales and even ciders this is a must go to place to visit.
