You will not find a garden like this elsewhere, although it reminded me of Antonio Gaudi and the Park Güell in Barcelona. The author Isaiah Zagar created interesting and unique murals and other artwork on South Street in Philadelphia. I highly recommend visiting this site when in center city.

Definitely pay to go into the gardens themselves, but also be sure to wander the block around there to see the mosaics that extend onto other buildings!

Found this place on a list of offbeat sights to see. On South Street, an area which is rapidly gentrifying. We went to a fantastic playground a few blocks away to wait until it opened. You can see this artists work on quite a few buildings in the surrounding area, but the gardens are quite unique. It's the equivalent of an entire yard covered in pieces of repurposed glass and pottery as well as original art. You will not see anything like it. Amazing that it survived the mammoth storms in recent years. Go, because it's worthwhile.

Quite beautiful and very inspirational. I have always been drawn to "outsider" art and this one it quite a masterpiece. The designs are so colorful and beautiful and use of recycled objects is an added bonus. The "maze" is fun to discover with always something new around the corner. I learned there that the creator has made many other smaller installations around the city which would like to see sometime. Seems like they had a few events on their website that looked cool, but none were running while we were visiting Philly. A magical place and a unique venue - definitely recommend to check it out.

I was surprised that I wasn't aware of Magic Gardens but I'm so glad we went for the guided tour. We got there early and spent an hour walking the grounds on our own and then the tour took us much deeper and we were able to explore parts of the grounds that are off limits without the tour. It was very much worth it!
